This is the Heinkel He P.1079/II, designed durring WWII. They only got as the drawing board, it was never submitted to the RLM (Reich Air Ministry). However, after the war it's creators were enlisted into the USAF to help with their jet fighters.

Check this one out then: The Sanger "Silverbird" Orbital Bomber, designed by Doctor Eugen Sanger from 1930-35. It was intended to be mankind's first step into space, and if not for the Nazis it would have done so in the early to mid 40s. They perverted it into a orbital nuclear bomber that could strike any target on earth, but the program was terminated in 1941 after the invasion of Russia so the scientists could focus on rockets like the V2. What I find amazing is that it is a re-useable spacecraft just like a space shuttle designed in the 30s, but the yanks and reds never thought of similar designs until the late 70s! It was to be launched by a separate rocket booster on a big track like the mass driver from Ace Combat 5.

Well, this has to be the wackiest of them all: The Focke-Wolf Fw-500A-1 "Kugelblitz" Apparentlty the rotating blades would have given it VTOL cababilites, and also the power to saw through enemy bombers. This work is completely fictional though, no aircraft like this was ever conceived (similar aircraft, but not the same).

Ah, man, I loved that pic. How do you apply a pic that you find from DA as a wallpaper? Is there an option on the pic for it?
Anyways, did anyone here ever play Maple Story?
