"L'étoile de la mort" is French for "Death Star". Thank you Wikipedia.

My mother didn't quite get the concept of "wiped" this morning...I had to explain to her that the computer didn't have files because the virus WIPED it. Clean freak she is, I shoulda used a Windex example or something. Thankfully, the computer was old, and my dad doesn't use it much (much less know HOW to use it ).

I learned that HL2s Ravenholm level isn't as scary when you play it for the second time.

Hmm...I never played that game, but the name of that stage sounded familiar.
I learned about Spartans today. Guess which movie I saw.

Was it this one? Nah I know which one you mean, this one was the original 1962 movie. Actually as Hollywood films go 300 was about 90% historically accurate, its just that the visuals were so insanely cool. And the Persians didn't have monsters in real life, though theoretically they did have enough archers to 'blot out the sun', and apparently did so.

The thing about the monsters was obvious. I actually didn't know that's how accurate the movie was.

The thing is that the Battle of Thermopylae happend in 480BC, so alot of what happend has passed into legend. But for the most part 300 follows the words of the Greek historians, and when you read that the numbers make it all the more amazing of a story. On the first day, Xerxes sent 10,000 footsoldiers. They were all killed with only a handfull of Spartans dead. On the second day he sent 30,000 including all 10,000 of his crack troops, the Immortals (yes, they were real). The results were the same, almost all the Persians dead with only a few Spartans lost. On the third day, 50,000 went in. Again they failed. But that's when the traitor Ephialtes showed the Persians the weak spot. I won't say anymore in case someone here hasn't seen it, but suffice to say it is about 90% accurate. And, when told by that the Persian arrows would block out the sun, a Spartan (called Dienekes) really did say "Then we will fight in the shade."
