Same here, Avatar; for it's plot twists, drama, and overall animation(go fig).
Hey Arnold was my favorite from the Silver Age. It was an easy cartoon for me to relate to since I was city-raised. I was kinda the school punching bag growing up too...
And I liked Spongebob pre-movie. The new episodes really aren't as funny. I think the show's going stale.

I prefer the old shows, which means:
Hey Arnold Rockos Modern Life (I dont know if thats the right english title) Ren & Stimpy
But theres one NEW show, besides MLaaTR, that gains my attention:
Invader Zim
Unfortunately banned from german TV, but I loved it.

The rumor was that Vasquez (the creator of Zim) hid a frame of a "bloody GIR" in one of the episodes, almost in the way of Subliminal Messaging. It was cancelled here in the states years ago, more likely because of other reasons....maybe a contract or dispute over the rights to it. It was one of my all-time favorite shows....EVER. Nothing quite like it, honestly. Fairly Odd-Parents was mildly entertaining for the middle of the series. The beginning was bland and cliche, while the new stuff is just....well, too much to work with. Danny Phantom....Thank God it's gone. Also cliche in the way of superhero-based cartoons, albeit with an interesting twist. Went the same way as FOP, but a lot faster. Avatar wasn't that bad, though. It had it's moments, but it still failed to hold my attention very long. I watched off and on. Spongebob is very bland now. It's all re-dos of the old gags and ideas with different skins. Pre-movie was great....now it's just getting old. Hey Arnold was also good.....but the movie attempt was the worst I've ever experienced. Rocko's Modern Life and Ren and Stimpy were both funny, but when I watched I was much younger than I am now....and much more prone to reactions of the stomach. I'll remember them fondly, mostly, but always with the thought that they were the first things I saw on TV to make me blow chunks. Wasn't KABLAM! a show of short animations from back then? Anybody else remember that? Like the whole series of them about the generic action figures, and the strange cardboard-style animations.....just random stuff. That was pretty cool. They need something like that again, IMO. A little variety is nice. But I think we can all do without All That and The Amanda Show....ugh. Enough of my rant against Nick shows, though....they all had their fans, as MLAATR does here.

Really? In the states too? I thought that was an another act of the stupid german legal for protection of young persons. Sometimes they had shown it after midnight, but thats long ago. Now they share their place with Comedy Central and past 8pm, theres no Nick in germany. Do you have Nick for 24 hours? I guess I was 9 or something when I watched Rocko, Arnold and Ren & Stimpy so I didn't get most of the the humor especially at Ren & Stimpy which is full of political and social parody.

My sister really liked Hey Arnold. I only liked the movie though. I'm actually starting to like Danny Phantom a lot too. Not as much as Avatar though. That and Teenage Robot will always be my faves.

I love Avatar, but I don't really consider it a Nicktoon...
Hey Arnold is probably one of my faves, because even though it's initially unremarkable, it's just so well written. I can STILL watch episodes of it for hours, and to this day I have always gone out of my way to watch both the actual special "Arnold's Halloween" and the episode "The Headless Cabbie" before Halloween.

How is Avatar not a Nicktoon? It's definitely not an anime...

The Nicktoon brand just has a specific feel to it, kind of like Cartoon Network's Cartoon Cartoon line. Also, while it isn't a true anime, Avatar is certainly closer to that than a traditional American Cartoon.

Avatar has the same copy and paste art style that's applied in a lot of cartoons nowadays. It's the westernized anime look you'll find in Cartoon Network's Fusion Fall game, Ben 10, and Teen Titans. It's just a lazy way to cash in on something that the mindless masses of kids will eat up. I would have liked Avatar if they managed to make it interesting and used real American animation, rather than try to copy something that the Japanese should handle. American-produced "anime" is usually just pointless dreck.

I watched the first season of Avatar and I thought: "Cool, that's completly different from other Nick Shows." Then the rerun start's, after that they start another rerun and after that, the second season start's. But I was not interested anymore...

I like their newest show. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch the Nicktoons channel at 4 pm Eastern time.
