Okay, think I might have found one you might like, though this one is a lot more lighthearted.
Fireball
Fireball is a Futuristic mecha-anime that was developed with help from Disney studios. Its about this robot girl named Drossel and her mechanical assistant, Gedachtnis (whom she always gets his name wrong) and their lives at a massive manor. The series is kinda like MLAATR In a way since Drossel is very curious and interested in humans, and it is very cute too. If you want a more sweeter, not-so-action based one, I suggest you check this one out.
Also a few episodes I managed to find of Fireball.

Jeez, I really need to update my list...
Seen it, NEXT!
Also, Drossel HATES humans. Our lingo alone makes her want to blow us off the face of existence. I can see the Jenny-influenced design (kinda, or that cliche that all robot girls have to have pigtails or twintails...) but that's pretty much it. The humor isn't even the same, Fireball's jokes revolve around wordplay most of the time, MLaaTR's jokes revolve around Jenny being a robot.

Gigantor? Pfft, b!tch, please. I'm for Tetsujin 28.
Look for "It's called GATTAI!!" in the anime section of the omniverse.
Medabots was one of my absolute favorite shows as a kid, it still would be if season 3 didn't RAPE IT!!!
I tried to like Angelic Layer, but the characters are too young to take the game seriously. I mean, seriously, one of them is pretty much Seto Kaiba as an 8-year old girl. I'd prefer the games to be more explosive if they're to be taken seriously (like Medabots) or for the characters to treat the games like a fun sport. So no, I don't like Angelic Layer, it annoys me to supreme levels. It's not even a mecha show, it's a doll-come-to-life show like Rozen Maiden. The only entertainment I get out of that show is when I play the opening theme to Heavy Gear during the opening sequence of Angelic Layer.

Gad Guard is a waste of time. The characters are never built up, the music doesn't match the opening one bit, and the arc between the main hero and his rival looks like it's building up to a yaoi scene that I'm constantly in dread of, me not being homosexual.

Okay, found another Mech series for you. IGPX (Immortal Grand Prix)First of all, I DO NOT suggest the old version. The old version had horrible mech designs, and the battles were too lackluster and didn't involve racing (which takes away from the Grand Prix part). I didn't like the original version too much. The Newer version of IGPX though, I Will Reccommend. Its about a team of characters who pilot huge Racer-Type Robots in a large racing competition. They use fast-moving bots who race around the track, but however they are also allowed to fight each other in the race too. So as you might imagine, the battles get really intense since the involve both striving to destroy your opponent and to make it to the finish line. I loved this version of IGPX, for it was like Mario Kart if Mario Kart had mechs. So have you seen IGPX at all, Agai? If not, I'd reccomend that one definitely.

There's a scene where one giant robot picks up a cargo ship and beats down a giant alien beast with it like a baseball bat. Also, directed by the dude who did Pan's Labyrinth and both Hellboy movies among others. If not for Iron Man 3, this would be the movie I'd be looking forward to the most.

I forgot to mention that there is a comic crossover with Voltron and Robotech.

Saw Pacific Rim, and I loved every single second of it. My only complaint is that I WANT MORE.
