He had spent twenty-four Christmases with KPG. This is the twenty-fifth one, and he was gone less than a month ago.
Geoff was asleep in KPG's old, yet clean bed. The rest of Squad Quebec had their own vantage points in defense.
Jakob's other allies did not know of this new development in Jakob's so-called "life." Technically, he inherited an army comprised of Canadians who smuggled themselves into US Society, and under Skyway Patrol's wing without them knowing.
And in the few thousands. That's pretty damn good. The problem was to establish a secure, reliable contact with all other teams scattered around the US.
That can wait for now. The NCC still wasn't yet powerful enough to take down Skyway Patrol. Sixty years of preparation, from what KPG mentioned. The NCC was certainly not going to screw the pooch this late in the game. Caution was the key for them.
As for these Rebels, still unnamed, they can be patient for now. Making too much noise at a time of year such as this would be foolhardy.
Jakob donned a different hat instead of his traditional wide-brim fedora. Instead, he revamped his helmet to improve efficiency, and then slapped on a colourful, yet slightly dull Santa Hat.
His new helmet of sorts generally looked the same, except the "ears" were capable of folding into the helmet.
The Santa hat was securely on his head. Jakob kept himself armed with his sniper rifle, SMG, Assault Rifle, and sidearm. Everything else stayed at home.
While he didn't want to cause too much ruckus during the Holiday Season, random villain encounters were still present. Clever villains thinking that terrorizing citizens during holiday breaks would be clever.
Not on Jakob's watch. He personally respected the symbolism behind the holiday, if not the material worth it is now.
"By the way, Tycho?" Geoff called as Jakob was half-way up the stairs.
Tycho was Jakob's new codename with Quebec Squad. In the event someone was kidnapped, they would refer Jakob as the nickname.
"Yeah, Geoff?" Jakob asked.
"Bring some Shanghai noodles on the way back." Geoff replied as he rolled towards the wall and continued snoring.
Jakob acknowledged the order and left the house.
---
There was no wind. Jakob's blue scarf wasn't flailing about along with the Santa Hat. His coat collar was folded up.
His two smaller sidearms were in his coat pockets, perfectly concealed as usual. In the event of a random quick skirmish, he'd have the pistols out in an instant.
Since KPG's passing, he's been more cautious for himself more than anything.
For now, Jakob began trekking through the now-thick snow towards the Tremorton Mall.

Alex was on the roof of the mall, waiting for something interesting to happen. He enjoyed sitting in the snow that had accumulated there, watching the sky, and then he'd be able to react quickly to any disturbances nearby.
He hadn't seen many of the other vigilantes lately, except for Jenny. Everybody else seemed to be busy or gone for whatever reason.
And so he sat, with the sounds of last-minute christmas shopping all around him.

Champ had wanted to enjoy a quiet holiday, he'd wanted to spend that time with only his closest friends. He also wanted to save money on gifts by only buying for a few people. Unfortunately for him, Azure had other ideas. Which is how the vigilante found himself trekking through the snowy parking lot to the Tremorton mall, trying to shield himself from the cold. Azure seemed completely unfazed by it as she walked through the lot, smiling as she watched the gently falling snow. "What about Jenny," She said excitedly, "What would Jenny want for Christmas?" Champ sighed, brushing the snow from his hair. "I don't know, Azure," He said, "Why don't you ask her?" Azure shook her head. "No, no, that's no fun," She said, laughing slightly, "It's always better if it's a surprise." Champ sighed in frustration, but a hint of a smile graced his lips. While he was not particularly excited about the coming holiday, it was hard not to find Azure's holiday cheer infectious. She was so devoted to getting everyone the perfect gift. Champ just hoped she would succeed.

Since had had arrived on Cluster Prime, Eric had many adventures, mostly with Jenny, Sheldon, and Vega. He perferred to stay out of Tremortonian affairs, leaving the city's problems to its' local heroes and heroines.
He had more pressing concerns: his wife, Vega, the Queen of Cluster Prime, had been especially busy, this time of the Clusterian year was very important in the politics of Cluster Prime. Bills, laws, taxes, and other govermental issues were discussed and voted upon.
Vega was busy with overseeing the elections, debates, and general goings-on. She was the one who was the final voter in the processes.
(The Queen acted as a sort-of President nowadays--she still had control over the planet, albeit not as tyrannical as her mother, Vexus.)
So, all of this meant that he was stuck with the kids. All nine of 'em. Richter, Tremor, Quake, Spark, Thoros, Thunderball, Radia, Ductia, and Vectia.
Actually, he had his friends take care of the first six, while he was taking care of his triplet daughters, Radia, Ductia, and Vectia.
At this particular time, he was walking along the sidewalk near Tremorton's mall, on his way to Jenny's place to give her a gift that he had bought at Binary Park Mall's odds-and-ends store, Springs-n-Things.
"Slaggin' weather. Back on CP it's alot warmer..." Eric grumbled.
"I'm telling mom that you said a bad word!" Radia said.
Eric rolled his eyes. "Son-of-a glitch!"
"Mom's not going to be happy! You said another one!"
Kids. Oy vey. Eric thought.

"Bah. Humbug," Gene thought as he flew a patrol over Tremorton Mall. Truer words were never spoken. He wasn't opposed to the holiday itself. It made sense for Christians to celebrate the Incarnation. He didn't even mind that December 25 was almost certainly not Jesus' actual birthday. After all, Martin Luther King Junior's birthday is a matter of public record, but we move it around to guarantee a three-day weekend.
No, it was the secular trappings of Christmas that bothered Gene. This day honors a man who healed the sick, who fed the hungry, and who ultimately gave his life to save a world that hated him. So what do we do? We turn it into an excuse to get fat and drunk, to show off our most obnoxious light shows, and to kill each other for overpriced plastic crap that some corporation's marketing department has convinced our kids that they absolutely need, even though they'll be bored with it by New Year's. And those few of us who do remember the so-called "Christmas spirit" always seem to conveniently forget it the day after. What, do the poor stop being poor on December 26? Do our friends and family only matter to the extent that they can throw us parties and give us presents? Do we really suppose that one day of charity is enough to atone for 364 days of greed? If that's what we've made of Christmas, then again I say humbug. Humbug to it all!
Gene sighed as he dove down to the mall's entrance. But it's not like I can stop it from happening. All I can do is try to keep the fatalities to a minimum. Let's see... any riots yet? He scanned the area around him. Man, this would be a lot easier if I had X-ray vision. Why do I keep putting that off?

Jakob entered the mall, aware of the presence of other vigilantes. Maybe this place was more secure against villains than he thought.
Then again, too much help can result in a disaster... If that were the case, then Jakob would let the others do their thing until they need backup.
For now, Jakob walked down the mall corridors, amongst busy shoppers.

As he continued walking towards Jenny's place, Eric spied Sheldon walking along on the same sidewalk ahead of him. Sheldon seemed to be fiddling with something small, and from what Eric could hear, talking to himself.
"Hey Sheldon! What's up?" Eric shouted, running up to the techno-geek.
"I'm....going to Jenny's to give her something." Sheldon said in a nervous tone.
"What is it?"
"A ring. I'm going to perpose to her today. I hope she accepts..."
"Wow. Never knew you had it in you."
"Neither did I."
Vectia, meanwhile, had climbed atop Sheldon's head. She laughed, and smiled broadly.
(Eric's three daughters look like stout one-foot-long caterpillars with their mother's head; albeit having different colored 'hair' and smaller antennae. They have big eyes, and three eyelashes at the outer corner of their eyes. The three inch along like caterpillars, the combined effect making them look overwhelmingly cute. If anyone wants to draw 'em, go ahead.)
Ductia, meanwhile, had afixed herself to Eric's back, popping out of his coat and looking around nervously evey so often.
Radia was inching along in the snow next to her father, making a small trail behind her. After a few minutes more of crawling, she looked up, inched along a bit faster, and grabbed onto Sheldon's leg.
The gearling climbed up Sheldon's pant leg and settled on--much to Sheldon's annoyance--his face, covering his eyes. Being unable to see, the geek stumbled, and fell forwards into the snow on the sidewalk.
After a few seconds, Radia popped her head out of the snow, and crawled around to Sheldon's back. She hopped--well, as much as she could was just a little wiggle--amd laughed.
"Sheldon fell down, and went boom!" Radia said with a big grin on her face.
A muffled sigh issued from Sheldon, while Vectia popped her head out of the snow and inched back to her father.

((I don't think it was supposed to be...I dunno. Also, technically Cartoon Heroes is an AU anyway(well...not recognized as part of the central Universe...which is good, given that I cheated in writing the next arc to make it center around a still-evil Cluster...))

Meanwhile, at Jenny's home.
Jenny was putting the last bit of garland on her Christmas tree--which was made of metal sheets fashioned into a cone--completing her Christmas decorating.
The house was littered with various decerations, scientific equpment, and general nick-nacks collected from Nora's time as a Skyway Patrol officer and Jenny's crime-fighting universe-spanning adventures.
If one were to look around the house, one would find it painted in the same colors as its' cartoon counterpart. It would also look the same, except for the obvious fact that it wasn't a two-dimensional cartoon, it was real. As real as our universe, with all of the qualities of our reality.
Jenny slumped down in one of the living-room chairs and let out a sigh.
"Finally done." Jenny said, expelling the cool air that kept her systems in working order. For her, the inhaling and exhaling of air that acted as a coolant was her equivalent of a human breathing.
Nora, having returned from Radio Shed, kicked open the front door, entered the house, and shook off some residue half frozen water particles.
"XJ Ny-un, one of your friends called. He's going to be here in a few minutes, so find your polished chest and hip plates; and get out of those skimpy things that you call clothes."
"MOTHER! Please go into the other room when you enter the house next time!" Jenny yelled, covering her...software with her hands as best as she could.
"Oh, yes, XJ Ny-un, that reminds me of the time when you were a prototype and took off your outer armor right infront of the local university students...."
"AAAUUUGGGGHH!" Jenny roared in frustration, took hold of her 'mother' and threw the unfourtunate woman inside into her own bedroom.
Muffled yells of protest licked at Jenny's ears as she locked the bedroom door.
"No one tells me what to wear! It's my life as a teenage robot, mother, and you can't control it!" Jenny yelled to her mother.
She hummed a tune and walked to her room. The teenbot laid back on her bed, turned on the flat-screen tv, and flipped through the channels, stopping on the teen-news channel.

The tremorton heroes were as active as ever. New and old face could be seen near the "mall", a kind of merchant guild. Aurelius Black was atop the said building. but far from Alex.
Since he was bored, the avatar had decided to do a little bit of spying upon each of the earth superhumans (and non-humans).
Aurelius needed to do some investigation on them, they were one of the most dangerous known force of this planet. Their so call "Christmas"would probably lower their guard in a way.
"And will give me the opportunity to study their every day actions, without me."
The avatar then noticed a strange groupcomposed of four humanoid being. One human male and three small robots. Definitly unusual. Would they bother looking at their own shadow? Probably not.
The avatar then teleported himself inside the group shadow, hinding.

Sheldon picked himself up out of the snow, wobbled a bit, and stood up. He looked around to see if anything was missing from his person, and if anything was broken.
To his relief, nothing was missing or broken. He sighed, and thanked himself for putting the ring-case in the back pocket of his gray kahki-like jeans.
----
The two adult males and the three gearlings continued their walk to their friends' home, talking amongst themselves about nothing in particular.
"....So, how did you get the courage to perpose to Jenny?" Eric asked.
"Well, it just...came to me. All of the attempts that I made to win Jenny's love failed, and I finally realized that I didn't need some robot suit or a mechanical flower, I just needed to be myself." Sheldon replied.
"Brad and Jenny went on dates before, but now I see that they're just close friends, not in love with each other. As for me and Jenny, we're like Brad and her, but I sense something in her that's trying to come out. It's like something's holding her back from saying whatever she wants to say; good or bad."
"Have you told her about the Silver Shell?"
"No...I'm too afraid to. If she found out the truth, that I've been lieing for the past six years, then she'd hate me. She'd probably come to hate humans altogether...except for maybe you, Brad, and Tuck."
"You could always move to Cluster Prime; there's lots of single fembots that you could try to meet and get along with. I know of this nightclub called the 'Neon Club', it's a singles bar that I'd think you'd really enjoy going to."
"How'd you find out about it? You're married."
"I was on my way to Springs-n-Things, when I walked by the Neon Club and literally bumped into this large 'bot and his girlfriend. I apoligized, but then he saw that I was an organic, and punched me in the stomach. I called Vega, and, well, let's just say that the Club had a new sunroof and a few new doorways at the end of the day."
"Who won?"
"It was a draw. It ended with Vega helping me walk home and the general public finding out that their new queen was an organic-lover."
"So, what happened after that?"
"Well, that very incident is being gone over at those conferences that Vega is at. They're trying to decide if I should be executed or not, along with Vega being exiled from Cluster Prime. The only thing more worse than this, besides me being killed by alien robots, is if the public finds out about our kids. You can probably imagine what'll happen to them. Vega is at one of the conferences regarding govermental affairs arguing our case."
Eric paused, and then spoke.
"Don't worry about me, you and Jenny, and Tremorton's protectors; they need not get involved with this. It's my problem, and I don't want anyone else getting entangled in this mess. Just go about you business--oh, and tell Jenny what I said."
Sheldon nodded, and the small group of two humans and three Clusterlings continued to walk towards Jenny's home.
