Definitely looking forward to this. Anyone have any opinions?

A little unsure. Resembles The Dark Knight in terms of feel, but it's got aliens, superhumans in tights flying around punching and stuff, and I have no clue why anyone would think handcuffs on Superman is in any way a good idea- or even necessary.
In terms of symbolism... I personally think they're trying too hard in that regard.
Then again, I'm a lot more excited for Iron Man 3, so what reasonable opinion do I have regarding Superman?

I'm a sucker for symbolism and ideals. If you just want great action, Iron Man is the way to go. Superman is an inspiring character, which is something I personally believe in, which is why I love the character so much. This video puts it into perspective:
As for opinion, what I'm asking is, how do you think this movie will measure up compared to past Superman films?

Superman is an inspiring character, which is something I personally believe in, which is why I love the character so much. (snipped video) As for opinion, what I'm asking is, how do you think this movie will measure up compared to past Superman films? Sticking to Iron Man for a tick, I rather enjoyed Tony Stark as a character- he's got those human flaws that Superman lacks... Although that is the common complaint to why people don't tend to like Superman. Thing about every hero that isn't Superman is that every other hero's ultimate goal is to try to be like Superman. They want to be that paragon- that champion of sorts- the one living thing that, despite gender and species differences with nearly everyone he knows, he would live to help, live to ensure that others live, and to punish those who act on the belief that the world centers around them. As for the question, I don't think that is the right question to ask, as the older Superman films are products of their time, from the scripting to the effects, in a time where grim and gritty superhero movies like Batman Begins were never thought about- heck, I think Christopher Nolan was still in school at the time. I think the better question is "How will it stand up alongside The Dark Knight?" - Because at the moment, it's rather useless to try to compare it to Marvel/Disney's Avengers juggernaut. Though if you must compare it to the Avengers, you're better off comparing it to one of the earlier Avengers movies, like The Incredible Hulk, or Iron Man 1, or (most fitting) Captain America: The First Avenger. I, personally, hope that Man of Steel rocks my heavy metal socks, because then Warner Bros. will consider doing a Justice League movie, and a Marvel Vs. DC movie studio showdown is an exciting concept to me- even if I don't even read the comics. (Though I'm familiar with the basics... kinda... sorta...)

I've been invited to see it with some friends from my church.
Be interesting to see honestly. I'm not a big comic book buff but I like superhero based stories. I'll have to wait and see how this turns out.

I hope we get to see some smashing and fighting supervillains. Most people are hoping that this movie won’t suck. The last one was a little boring so they need to step up their game.

I hope we get to see some smashing and fighting supervillains. Most people are hoping that this movie won’t suck. The last one was a little boring so they need to step up their game. Well it's being directed by Zack Snyder- who did 300, Watchmen, Suckerpunch, and the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead- all of which are movies I've seen (except Suckerpunch) and enjoyed (except Suckerpunch... since I haven't seen it) And while Christopher Nolan is a good director, I'm glad he's only acting as a producer. His filmography doesn't give me any idea (let alone confidence) that he'd be any good with a more "out there" superhero that isn't Batman. Also, let's face it: You can't do worse than Green Lantern.

Good point, at least we see good cinematics. Suckerpunch you would argue the logic. I got bored watching a fight killer robots and a speeding train and I found it predictable. It didn’t help that it was unneeded. I think that is the problem it overextends it welcome. A few clips of it are fun but it gets predictable. You will feel what they do was unnecessary in order make drama. Hopefully they will avoid doing that in the Superman movie

Probably that bit at the end where there's a beautifully framed shot of Superman punching some bad guy so hard it sends said bad guy flying at the speed of sound. Maybe it's Russel Crowe in an outfit that almost rivals Loki's... almost... Actually, it kinds reminds me of the uniform in Dredd. Or- most likely- Kevin Costner is absolutely perfect as Kent Sr. I'm kidding. It's actually the punch.

I saw the movie and it was decent. The fight scenes and cinematics were good and now there are krytonion dragons which I do not mind that they will add in the comics. The resolve of how certain situation I have to question the methods they chose to make a point. I should not say anything about it since that will too spoilers. I wait few months to talk about it further
