It was a bright and sunny afternoon, the end of an unusually peaceful day in Tremorton. Jenny "XJ-9" Wakeman was doing her homework when there was a knock on the door. "I'll get it!" She called, going downstairs to the front door. When she opened it, she was greeted by two men in G-Force uniforms. "How may I help you?" Jenny said. "Hello, Miss Wakeman, is your mother home?" To this, Jenny turned and hollered. "Mom! It's for you!" Second later a woman with red tinted glasses and white hair ascended from her basement lab. "What is it, what do you want?" She said, clearly irritated at the fact that the messengers were from G-Force, "If you came to confiscate my maser coil I had better see a warrant!" "No, Miss Wakeman, we've come to ask for your help. The entire world depends on it." "Then just send in one of your humongo-bots to deal with it then, why are you bothering me?" She said, spite oozing from her tone. "Because our robots have failed." One of the men confessed, leaving the good doctor to smirk. "Jenny, be a dear and show them how a REAL super-robot deals with--" "I'm afraid you don't understand!" The soldier interrupted, "If Jenny goes after it then she'll just be sacrificing herself for nothing." This caught Dr. Wakeman's attention. "What you're saying is that we're up against something even more powerful than Armagedroid." "Even moreso than Balaam's Apocalyptron," The soldier stated, "At least those two had weaknesses." Dr. Wakeman scratched her chin at this before making her decision. "Fine. I'll help," she said, before putting her arm around jenny and holding her close, "But Jenny must accompany me!" "What? Why!?" "Because I can't trust you with the house, and I need to make sure you to finish that homework." The good doctor remarked. "Excellent, we need all the help we can get." The two agents went over to a van and courteously opened the van door for them. The two got in, and the van sped off, heading for G-Force's US Division. ----- They had entered a room filled with Tremorton's greatest minds sitting at a round table, some the Wakeman's recognized, others they didn't. At the opposite end of the entrance was the head of G-Force, Jericho, waiting patiently with his arms crossed. Once Jenny and Dr. Wakeman took their seats he unfolded his arms and stood up. "I can assume you are wondering why I asked you all to come here," He paused to get an affimative nod from his company, "We are facing a threat that the world has only encountered once before, in the year 1954." "It started one month ago, when a nuclear submarine was destroyed in the high seas near Japan. A search and rescue crew was sent to the site to retrieve survivors and deduce how the sub was destroyed," A screen was lowered into the room as the lights were dimmed, "The surviving members came back with this image." A blurry image was projected on the screen. "You're not suggesting that we have some resurrected legend running around, are you?" One scientist jested, "Those could be anything! Mutated coral, perhaps." The screen was pulled up and the lights were back on. "That's what we thought, too, until it plowed through all of Asia and Europe, leaving nothing but radiation and flattened cities in its wake," Jericho sternly continued, "Once the creature went back into high seas, the UN didn't hesitate to use the most powerful weapon on Earth against it." With that, many of the present company gasped. "You don't mean..." Dr. Wakeman said, to which Jericho nodded. "Yes, they launched the Tzar Bomb, the most powerful nuke ever tested. And yes, it failed. Several times, in fact," Jericho continued. "It then fell to G-Force to kill the beast. As you can imagine, the super-robots that are our pride and joy..." Jericho pressed a seemingly random button that was behind him, which made the wall open up to reveal the G-Force hangar. Jericho wore a depressed expression when he looked at the totaled robots beyond the viewing window. Engineers covered the broken bodies of the gargantuan machines like ants, each in a white radiation suit, desperately trying to rebuild G-Force's backbone. "...Has also failed," Jericho quickly made his expression blank before turning to the scientists, "And that is why I have gathered you here. You are the greatest scientific minds in not only Tremorton, but the entire continent, and it has fallen to you to help us save the lives of millions and avenge the millions that have already been lost." "What if we say no?" The same jesting scientist said. "Then that is the choice you made," Jericho said, nodding to the skeptic, "I have nor the right or the will to stop you." "Okay, see ya," The skeptic promptly got up and left, "Wasting my time with stupid myths..."

Earlier:
"Mr. Wright?" asked a man in a G-Force uniform. He and his partner were standing just outside Gene Wright's Tremorton apartment.
"I keep telling you," Gene sighed, "I'm almost done with my doc-wait, you said 'Mister,' didn't you?"
The man nodded. "Mr. Wright, your employer has authorized us to requisition your services. You need to come with us."
"And do what?" Gene asked. "Who are you people? What the hell did Vexus sign me up for this tiii..." He had scant moments to appreciate the irony before hitting the floor. One of his undergraduate projects at San Andreas State was a fast-acting incapacitant, based on a formula from the 2040s. There was a good chance that he'd just been hit with his own brand of knockout gas.
"Was that really necessary, Ted?" the other G-Force man asked.
"No."
Now-ish:
As the other scientist left, Gene looked to Jericho. "All right, question, possibly a ridiculous one. Assuming this thing really is... a thing, has there been any attempt to communicate with the creature since 1954? I mean, it may just be pissed that the surface dwellers are invading its territory. And if, worst-case scenario, we can't kill it, maybe all we have to do--all we can do--is, y'know, LEAVE HULK ALONE."

"Right, I assume you're not aware of the legend?" Jericho started, lowering the projector screen and dimming the lights once more "Over a hundred years ago, a creature emerged from the pacific and proceeded to wreak havoc on the nearest city of Tokyo, Japan. It was immune to all means of attack except one. It was a weapon designed by the brilliant scientist, Doctor Daisuke Serizawa. "It's design still baffles even today's greatest minds because through it, he is the one man that could break the law of conservation, to completely obliterate matter. Specifically, one of the most common elements on the planet, oxygen. With this weapon, the creature was killed. "However, Doctor Serizawa felt that humanity could not handle the Oxygen Destroyer's power, so he had destroyed all of his notes, and died launching the weapon against the monster. "Simply "leaving Hulk alone" is not an option, as the creature only claims human settlements as it's territory and we have yet to figure out why. Once more, the creature seems identical to the one that attacked in 1954, which is why I had bothered to bring up that incident."

Earlier
Science was the order of the day in the Mogg house. Of course, science was normally the order of the day in the Mogg house. The thing about having a family full of scientists was that all of them always at least had some project in mind. The thing about those same scientists being disgraced was that they were always working on something. Which was why, at the moment, Colette was in her room working on a way to draw in static electricity and use it to amplify the distortion fields on her Vector suit to protect her entire body, Isaac was working on a way to send probes into other dimensions, and Phineas was most of the way done with a cheap teleporter that he liked to imagine would soon be in every home in America, if he could just figure out how to stop it from scrambling the cells of everything that passed through it.
As each of them was distracted by their own work, there was a knock at the door, which the only non-scientist in the house, Joan, had to answer. What she found waiting for her sent her heart into her throat. Two men in G-Force uniforms stared down at her, each wearing a stoic expression.
"Ms.Mogg," One of them said, "We need to talk with your husband."
Joan nodded, and for a moment couldn't find her voice. When she finally did her cry to her husband was timid, and she was lucky that he'd managed to hear it as he was coming up the stairs to get some coffee. When he did he rushed to the door, and immediately frowned as he found the men waiting for him.
"To what do I owe the pleasure?" He asked quietly.
"Mr.Mogg," Said one of the men, "We'd like to speak with you about a matter of international importance."
Isaac's frown deepened.
"Last time I worked on anything of international importance my name was disgraced," He said, "Why would you want to talk to me?"
The man who had spoken gave a hint of a smile.
"Because our boss was somewhat impressed with what you attempted to do with the ZX project, even if it failed," He said, "And because he would like to extend to you and your family the chance to redeem yourselves. You see, we've run up against a problem that our talents alone cannot fix. We'd like you to join a team we're assembling to deal with the problem."
Isaac continued to frown, feeling that there was something wrong about this whole thing. He was a disgraced inventor, and after the failure of the ZX project he was wondering if he really should be working on projects worthy of this kind of attention. Still, if his work on the ZX project had taught him anything, it was that men like these wouldn't take no for an answer. He sighed, realizing what he had to do.
"I just want it clear that if this goes south I don't want anyone in my family's name attached to it," He said, "Our reputations have been tainted enough."
"That won't be a problem," The man at the door said, "Although I assure you that if this goes South there will be more than a few good names that will be as disgraced as your own. Now, if you'd be so kind as to get your brother as well..."
"Fine," Isaac said, turning to call to Phineas, but before he could the man spoke again.
"And your daughter," He added.
Isaac raised an eyebrow, confused and angry that they wanted to drag Colette into this. After all, the girl was smart, but what did they possibly think she could contribute to all of this, and why would they put her under the stress that came with the kind of work he imagined they had recruited him for? Still, he didn't argue.
"Colette," He called, "Phineas, there's some people here who would like to consult with us!" *** Now
As Jericho explained the flaws in Mr.Wright's logic Isaac couldn't help but frown. His own ideas would have concurred with Wright's, force the creature back into its habitat and then focus on creating future methods to discourage the creature from coming inland, and preparing contingencies for when it did. He was about to express this frustration, when, to his surprise, his daughter spoke.
"Firstly, I have to ask, if Dr.Serizawa destroyed this creature, than how has it returned?" She asked, "Because if it's a matter of it regenerating, than most conventional weapons will fail, and we'll have to focus on creating a biological agent that can slow that process. If this is a different creature of the same species, however, it suggests that these things are prone to long hibernation, since we haven't seen any individual of the species in over fifty years, and presumably haven't seen this one surface at all. If we can find some way to artificially force it back into hibernation than we can move it out of an area where it can do any damage and we'll have years to study it and figure out a way to deal with it next time it surfaces again."
Isaac smiled, surprised at the thorough way Colette had analyzed the situation. Perhaps he had underestimated his daughter, and the men from G-Force were on to something when they'd suggested that he bring her along.

Jericho smiled at Colette, nodding in agreement to her observations.
"An excellent idea. We have skin samples in our bio labs, if you would like to study them. However, I'm not asking you all to join right here and now," The lights were once again turned on as the projector screen retracted back into the ceiling, Jericho taking some notes from under the desk and passing them to each person at the table. "Here is my contact information. I need your answer by Monday of next week. After that, you will be given rooms here at HQ and access to all of our laboratories and resources.
"Are there any more questions?"

Dr. Welton sat in the corner next to Dr. Jane. They listened in on the conversation: both enthralled in what was ensuing. Likewise, of course, Plink sat next to his father and Alice next to her mother: both staring off into the screen out of the most impetuous boredom.
"Are there any questions?" The man said.
Mr. Welton spoke up. "Yes? What of teleporting the monster in space?" He said. "It's a far fetched theory, but Plink and I have been studying some alien teleportation tech: one of which happens to be apart of Plink's body as of now. If there could, perhaps, be a way to teleport the being out into the middle of space, would this solve the problem?"

Jericho nodded.
"We've been working on a similar project. However, I can't give you any more details until you agree to help us, it's a highly classified project."
Just then, the room became a flashing red as a loud alarm sounded. Jericho got out a radio speaker spoke into it.
"What's going on?"
"The target is approaching!" The a paniced voice said, "Along with dozens of other monsters!"
"You know the procedure, begin evacuation operations immediately. Use the mech infantry to lure the target away from land," Jericho ordered, before pressing a button that linked him to the hangar. "Can any of our robots still function?"
"No, sir, we can't even get them to walk properly." At this, Jericho slammed his fist against the wall. "Dammit! Deploy our Meta troops to counter the remaining monsters." He turned to the occupants of the room, many of which were metas and all of said metas gave him odd looks. He conceded with a sigh.
"You are free to leave."
-----
Meanwhile at the shored of Tremorton, dual red flags were raised as all of the lifeguards ordered everyone on the beach to evacuate. At first many of them were disobedient or hesitant to leave, but their pace quickened as the water suddenly exploded upwards, a blurry form forced out of the water by a screaming blue beam of energy.
When the beam dissipated, a shrieking, insectoid monster landed headfirst into the sand, making a loud crack similar to the splitting of bone. With that, people instantly fled to safety, and as if it wasn't enough, more monsters rushed inland from the shore, seemingly as panicked as the human populace.

((OOC:Drawing in some continuity we've ignored lately, and making an assumption that since Skyway and G-Force are allies there's personnel from both in most of the bases now to consolidate resources))
The moment the alarms sounded Phineas stood, staying in the room just long enough to see the incoming danger before bolting for the door. Isaac stared after him for a moment, annoyed at his brother's cowardice, but seeing many of the others leaving he followed suit. As he joined the crowd, however, he realized that Colette wasn't with him. He turned, finding his daughter glancing around the meeting room anxiously, but not making any effort to leave.
"Colette!" He cried back at her, "Come on, honey!"
"Just a moment!" She called back, "I lost something!"
"It can wait!" He called.
"Just a second!" She shouted back, and ducked down, and out of his vision.
Within moments he'd been swept away by the crowd, allowing Colette to give a sigh of relief. With him out of the way she was free to get to the real work. She weaved her way through the thinning crowd, slipping into an empty room nearby and pressing a button on her watch. Within moments thousands of nanites erupted from the device, quickly covering her body and forming a sleek battlesuit. She found a nearby window as a visor slid over her eyes, and as she opened the window and perched on its ledge a voice spoke in her ear.
"The situation seems rather dire, ma'am," It said, "I am running simulations as we speak, and almost all of them suggest that with the available resources of Skyway Patrol, G-Force, and the Metas of Tremorton complete destruction of the city is almost certain."
"Never tell me the odds, Vincent," She whispered, launching herself from the window and activating the anti-grav gyro in her boots, "Just send out a call to whoever can help and point me in the direction of a target that can't fry me in five seconds."
"Done and done," The AI said, and Colette took off, hoping she wasn't getting in over her head. ***
Blair wiped the sweat from her brow, and hefted her rifle against her shoulder, sighing as she looked at her handiwork. It was adequate, but her shooting had definitely been better. Perhaps it had been how little she'd had to do lately, or perhaps it was that as a commanding officer in her new unit she wasn't being pushed to keep her skills in top shape anymore, and was lax in her training. Either way, she needed to step up her game, and she knew it.
All thoughts of this were erased when the alarms around the base started, and a voice in her ear filled her in on the situation.
"Just brilliant," She muttered, before pressing a hand to her ear to activate her comm-link, "Attention Sigma Team, we've got a lot of work to do, so get to the hangar immediately and be ready for a long day."
She sighed, throwing the rifle over her shoulder and racing towards the nearest hangar. So much for not having anything to shoot at.

"We'll join so long we remain ethical in our Conduct." Dr. Welton said. When the Alarm sounded, both plink and Alice stood up. "I guess that's our cue?" Plink said. His father nodded. At the same time, the two bots flew out of the building to stop the impending threat.

"Already there," Kazama replied, stocking up on as much handheld artillery as possible into the team's VTOL. "Where are you?"
---
Jenny blasted off into the sky to survey the situation as soon as she exited the building. She looked to the shoreline to see one last monster scramble out of the water. It got about thirty feet beyond the sand when Jenny's sensors detected something further out. She watched the waves intently, bracing herself. She watched the water bulge upwards, the mound of liquid slowly moving to the shore. When it became too high, the water fell away to reveal familiar, white growths gliding in the water.

"The range," Blair said, racing into the hangar and catching sight of Kazama, "I was under the impression we'd have more time before our friend made landfall."
In a few short moments she had reached the VTOL, and joined the rest of her team, panting after having raced through the base to reach them.
"Alright, so obviously we probably don't have enough firepower here to make a dent on the big guy, but do we have any idea who else we're up against?" She asked. ***
Colette had been passing by an evacuating children's hospital when she caught sight of the final figure rising from the waves. The moment she did her mouth fell open, and her eyes went wide.
"Well, it's official," She said, "We are fu-"
"Ma'am, there are children in hearing range," Vincent pointed out.
"-reakin' screwed," Colette finished, thankful that her AI had stopped her from looking stupid in public.
Not that it mattered, if they didn't find a way to handle the greatest monster the world had ever seen soon these kids wouldn't live long enough to be upset.
"Alright," She said, "So obviously we're going to need help to handle him, but weren't we on route to a less frightening foe?"
"That we were," Vincent pointed out, "Highlighting nearby enemies."
With that the AI brought the nearest creatures into focus, leaving Colette to choose which one she wanted to try to tackle first.

(Well, what monsters do you know of are famous for their dorsal spines, are radioactive, and are referred to as a king of sorts? 1954 and the name Dr. Serizawa are also clues. As for all of the others, you can use your imagination. Though they are all naturally-occurring monsters IE no cyborgs or robots. But to give you a very vague idea... www.tohokingdom.com/monster_bios.htm) "We've been assigned to the rest of the monsters," Io explained from her pilot seat, "Though we can't take down Target G, as you said, we have more than enough firepower to take on two or three of those monsters, five if Kazama gets lucky." With that, they lifted off into the city to see the chaos-ridden Tremorton. Below, Io could see hundreds of people running for their lives. "Wait a minute...Aoki, are you seeing this?" She said, turning to address the aforementioned soldier. He got up and looked over Io's shoulder. "Yeah, it's like the monsters are evacuating, too," He said, seeing several of the giant creatures avoid G-Force and Skyway by jumping over them or finding a way around. "They usually take millitary head-on, but now it's like they're on the run. They aren't even stopping to eat any of the evacuees." ----- Jenny opened up and activated every single weapon in her seemingly infinite arsenal, aiming every single gun, rocket launcher, laser beam, and everything else at the bony protrusions. When she locked on, a constant stream of bullets, missiles, lasers, and plasma erupted from her chassis, screaming towards the slowly moving target. An explosion echoed out as each shot hit its mark, the water around the target splashing thousands of feet high before evaporating. Left in a large crater at the shore was the largest monster that Tremorton had ever seen, double the size of even the tallest creatures. It's scaly, rough skin was between charcoal black and grey. The creature was completely unharmed, and it continued to walk into Tremorton as if it didn't even notice Jenny's assault. What it did notice was the struggling insectoid monster that was blasted out of the sea earlier, and paused. Jenny's geiger counter immediately detected a spike in radiation as she saw the beasts' dorsal spines emit a blue light, energy crackling between them. The creature leaned back before thrusting its head forward and opening it's toothy maw, letting fourth the same blue beam that forced the giant insect out of the sea. The insect tried to limp away, but it was already too late. The beam collided with the insect's thorax and instantly shattered the entire creature into flaming shards of exoskeleton and boiling bodily fluids.

"Lovely," Blair said sarcastically, "Well, if all we're looking at here is a giant monster stampede is there any way we can just corral them together and force them away from the city? Because that might be more viable than wasting our ammo taking them down one at a time." ***
Almost as soon as Colette chose her target, a giant spider, she had to unleash a Vector Beam on an advancing projectile, blasting a hole in what appeared to be a fully formed net.
"Let me get this straight," Colette said as she watched the rest of the net fall to the ground, "That thing shoots nets?"
"Webs, actually," Vincent corrected.
"From its mouth?" Colette continued.
"From its mouth," Vincent echoed.
"Since when do spiders do that?" She asked.
"Since when are they taller than buildings?" The AI retorted.
Colette shrugged, launching elasticity gel at the feet of the creature and using her freeze-ray to secure it to the ground, avoiding another net as she opened fire with the Vector Beam once more.

"Sigma Team, come in," Jericho said over his comm-link, "This is very important, all of the monsters are plowing through our barricades."
"Loud and clear, boss," Kazama said, "Is there any more trouble?"
"There haven't been any casualties, but we can't let them leave Tremorton and attack other cities," Jericho replied, "Your new orders are to re-open the fissure at the other side of Tremorton, evacuation efforts are re-routing people into areas that will be unaffected by the split."
"And then?"
"Join up with the rest of our forces and try to funnel in as many of them as you can into the resulting chasm. Jericho out."
"Resetting destination," Io said while turning several knobs, "ETA; five minutes."
