I always put in mind to expect the unexpected. Think of it as Attack of Killer Tomatoes. I feel military robot from Hollywood movies and it won’t work. If the robots were taught by military then it would usually follow the codes of the military with it sentience. It would be taught to serve the country. However if it were educated by something more manipulative and less ethical then this could change things. Would it turn against it master if it grew conscience? Will it desire more then it programmed for. Now think which profession would be the worst nurturers? If a robot were to become sentient which profession is likely to suffer depression or other mental condition that should be concerning? I should probably look at more options, but that is why I put other. Two things that easily come to mind is telemarketers since I feel they bring the worst in us, and it is expected the most for underhanded deeds. The other is strictly Japan but looking at Gajin Goomba videos this obsession of control over a mate it an easy to expect spouse abuse.

I think military-based robots are the ones most likely to enact the takeover, because they don't have to follow Asimov's Three Laws. Hell, it's already happened in the boarder between North and South Korea, where an automated turret is in place that can discern human-shaped objects and then immediately take them out without having to consult another human.

Yeah I heard about but think about it not the army code. it’s North Korea’s… attitude towards outsiders. There is also korean incompetent building that it may structurally sound mentally to begin with. Not to point out a stereotype but nuclear bomb, the space probe, ability admit they fail, and even some of their propaganda points out evidence for the reason for that stereotype. At best case scenario and it is another failure they are trying to bluff at worst the Sentinel Program has now come into effect. Do you know of the movie Attack of the Killer Tomatoes’ beginning quote? It goes like this "In 1963, Alfred Hitchcock made a motion picture entitled The Birds, a film which depicted a savage attack upon human beings by flocks of winged creatures. People laughed. In the fall of 1975, 7 million black birds invaded the town of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, resisting the best efforts of mankind to dislodge them. No one is laughing now."

I did not mean to belittle I am saying think outside the box. Hollywood hates technology as I pointed out in the cracked site. You can still have your thought but do you think that there may be a chance of something else. I can go depth but I feeling I should give chance for another to speak. I am looking up most stressful jobs and military is one of them.

Aww, cheer up, Swoop. Times are just slow around here.
I still think Military Robots are more likely to turn on their creators because nobody is stupid enough to give household robots psyche or emotions. Humans are immensely flawed and cruel, so it would be dangerous to let these robots (which would no doubt be stronger, more resilient, and/or equiped with tools that could be used as deadly weapons) make judgments and enact those judgments on people.
What basically happens then is that we create a new sapient race, thus we'd go through the racism trials (Segregation, slavery, hate crime, etc.) all over again when we could have simply chosen not to make them sapient.
And yes, gaining the ability to make their own decisions is required for non-military robots to directly attack humans, otherwise they're simply a tool like a gun or a knife; the only ones responsible for any attack would be humans. If someone shoots you in the knee you don't call for help saying "That gun shot me in the knee," You say "That person shot me in the knee!"

You overly generalize by being cynical then again I may be being optimist. Have you ever seen Bicentennial men with the annoying lady robot? I am just throwing classics. The idea is not to think of what is expected. Perhaps I should have asked for that. Remember household robot that has been twice in movies I think. I think there was small story but I forgot the name that deal AI house said that flames were laughing at it in the end.
You know perhaps I best be quiet anyway since it better to use whatever ideas for my own stories. It reminds me that I need to put an entry cracked.com thread. I guess this why the sheepishness is other ten me no make sense again. I may need to add something. Yeah there are jerks but if they calculate they would take the inspiration of the good ones. If they such great learners you think they get that part. Speaking of smart AI ours still needs a lot more work
The Animatrix the robots were very generous when you think about it they could use any other animal but they used humans.

Something unexpected, yet still likely? In terms of robots...we've explored every possibility, so I don't know what to tell you, Swoop. Besides, well, come up with your own friggin' ideas. Also, how the hell do I overgeneralize in a topic as vague as this one? Even when I can understand what you're saying, you don't make sense.
Uh, Swoop, a videogame AI is a lot different than a robot AI, especially one that was made more than a decade ago.
They specifically chose humans to ENSLAVE and you're calling that generous? One, having the most complex mental processes means more brain activity and therefore more electricity, so it's more the logical choice than a sign of mercy. Two, just because you're living doesn't mean it's a life worth living. Three, if nothing else, it seems like insult to injury: I've not only won but now your entire race will live a lie and solve the weakness you gave us.

In hindsight they could have used any organisms and they could have been safe. The robots either have an obsession desire to serve humans or they couldn't able to pull trigger for complete genocide on humans. I can easily throw other reasons most of them seem impractical if they desire only desire self preservation. Humans caused clouded the earth sunshine and were ready to destroy all robots even if it includes destroying the world. That is a clear sign of wrath.
Videogame AI is like all other AI fake. It isn't sentience but important to know that false information can be if not more dangerous than no intelligence. This is why we are working for sentience. It would be something to see sentient robot being frustrated with AI. Would that be like person being frustrated with caveman or more like a puppet?

...You make less and less sense with each post, swoop.
I've already countered your point about the machines preserving humanity; just because you're living doesn't mean it's a life WORTH living. In the Matrix, humanity is given two realities, both of which...suck. HARD. Would you really like to live the boring, worthless existence in the digital world or the clingling, doomed life in reality?
What does showing the desire to genocide the side that's trying to genocide your own race a sign of wrath? Furthermore, what the hell does that have to do with this topic?
Lastly, how is AI fake? AI, by definition, is simulated intelligence I.E. FAKE. Then you go off into a tangent about how sentient robots would interact with nonsentient robots that, again, has nothing to do with the topic.
Swoop, I CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOU.

Why humans the one the few life forms that have chance at killing them and they are making them an energy source? How did humankind lose to them with planning like that? Finding plot hole and knit picking the Matrix movies seem too easy that I am trying to make sense of it which I am losing. Second, Artificial means fake we often mistaken that for a word to describe robots IQ. Third is just me being distracted from my curiosity which is just smart leader with a dumb crew. I am sorry about that

I am trying to explain. The first paragraph is that future is a flawed in story structure. Second I am trying to make sense of the story structure for robots to act that way. Their actions are not only morally wrong but impractical too. Third is explaining AI in which I feel is often mistaken. I apologize for not making sense so this is my third try.

Shouldn't you have just made this thread about how you feel AI in fiction is inaccurate and used The Matrix as an example? I shouldn't have to jump through 50 loopholes to get what the hell this thread is supposed to be about.

We have been jumping 5 movies and one video game. I may as well make that a thread Movies depicting robots or maybe media. Will that be too vague?
