First and foremost, don't take this movie seriously if you want to enjoy yourself. It is a VERY silly movie. Omnios was right, it's very similar to Short Circuit, including how goofy it was.
A lot of the music is by the music duo Die Antwoord, and it seriously hurts the film. Yolandi Visser (who also plays the female lead) has an annoying high-pitched voice that digs into your ear and completely ruins a lot of the moments where Die Antwood's music is used. A DAMN shame too, considering the rest of the Soundtrack is by Hans Zimmer of Man of Steel and Interstellar fame. But no, we got Die Antwoord's crappy tunes. They're easily the worst part of the movie in both their performances and their music. Yes, these losers are taking the place of Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver in the movie's top billing spots. My IRL friends describe Chappie as a giant Die Antwoord music video, and if you take away the similarities to Short Circuit and Robocop...that's exactly what it is.

I personally liked it. It was cool and neat at parts. It also made me laugh some times. I thought it was so funny to see a robot doing GTA-style hijackings. And the things he ends up doing to save those he loves, Whoa!

I never said I disliked it, it just gave me an unhealthy hatred of Die Antwoord.
