I don't think anyone saw my post, so I'm repeating it:
We have Skyway because I'm not always around to put a stop to any problems. Skyway is needed here.
And what's more, they need to be able to take action without my sanction. You most certainly DO NOT need my permission to do what is right.
But what is right then?
Here's how I see it: An argument is an argument, and is often mutual. There is no need for interference.
Flaming however, stems from blind hostility and nonsense. There is simply no reasoning with such a person. I think we can agree on that. The staff should be able to stop a flamer AND ban the flamer immediately no matter what.
So how do we recognize a flamer? They usually resort to name calling and outrageous accusations.
Can we agree on this?

Aight dudes, it's getting pretty late over here so I'm gonna go into horizontal. I'm glad we could come to an understanding. (and I realize I might catch a sarcastic Hunter-comment for that, but I'm gonna make a run for it) Dude, don't put me on the spot like that. I... I got nothin'. The only thing I could snark on ITT is Ryota's inability to understand the meaning of the word "permaban." Getting over it does not seem to be the man's strong suit, no matter what it is.

And excuse me for luring you out of your cave of lurk. So the situation is: we have IP-banned Ryo but he's switching his IP and/or creating users from other computers? I'd say if it happens again maybe having Zero having to activate your account before you can post could be necessary.

Actually, I think at a point you can take it to the ISP and get them to ban him.

Isn't that a bit much of a production? It would be easier just to disable account activation.

He talking about contacting the Internet Service Provider, which is the company itself. He's using Road Runner.

I think the ISP cuts you off from service. I know at one point because of a computer virus that someone in the family picked up, it was sending spam e-mails through our e-mail addresses, and our ISP told us to stop or they were going to immediately cancel our service.

No one can ask the ISP to cut off service from another customer. It's a paid for service.

i also dont think it would be moral to completely remove someone's axess to the internet (and everyone wh lives in their house) for flaming one site, or even two

I agree with that. Can't you ban the IP from the site?

they've done that. problem is, he used a proxy to get in last time. if he uses another proxy, he can still get in long enough for one more flame

Uh...wow...that vindictive?
For a second, I actually thought the guy w/the proxy (when I first read it) was an older, much more destructive member to the community. I'm sure there are at least two who know who I'm talking about, though one of those two has yet to post on this thread. But yeah, Ryota appears to be incapable of letting go of stuff. I have a similar problem, but I can at least put it to rest before I sleep for the night...and vent it on Lawful Evil beings from the depths of the Nine H3lls. Oh, no, wait, can't even do that. Haven't had a real RPG group for a while...at least I'll get to play this Sunday with some old pals from school.
