I like the style of anime, but I am very picky.
My favorite animes have been: The Dragonball series. G Gundam Serial Experiments Lain The Full Metal PANIC! series
They're my ONLY favorites. Everything else has pretty much lost my attention fairly quickly.
Needless to say, I've been having a hard time getting into another anime. Judging by my favorites, what would you guys suggest?

-Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann -Death Note -Full Metal Alchemist (pretty generic artwise, but still a good plot)
Gurren Laggann is very bizarre. It focuses around mechs, and somehow gets to a point where there are mechs big enough to throw galaxies at each other (?). I myself have not taken the time to watch much, but I enjoyed what I was shown and many of my friends have completely loved it to death. I personally enjoyed the art style...definitely worth looking at.
Death Note, you've probably seen. Watch from the beginning. It's one of my favorites due to the plot twists, though it's pretty dark (good to mix things up from time to time). It's less action and more suspense and mystery, though there's some action, especially near the end.
Full Metal Alchemist is fairly mainstream. I like the plot myself, though the visual style is fairly generic.
Those are my personal favorites, but if you want some random comedy, try out Lucky Star. It basically follows some girls (who look very young but are apparently in high school) and the random happenings that go on. Yes, sounds boring. Seriously, though, despite the premise, it has been called the Seinfeld of anime (by people I know). Very cutesy, though, and about as close to chibi in style as you can get without being totally there. XD

Hmm...Judging from your favorites, my suggestions to you would be: -Yuusha Oh, GaoGaiGar (King of Braves, GaoGaiGar) -Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Heavenly-Breakthrough Crimson Force) - Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z-Hen (True Mazinger Impact! The "Z" Chapter) GaoGaiGarPut bluntly, if you liked G-Gundam, you will LOVE GaoGaiGar. The last in the long-running "Brave" series, GaoGaiGar was created to be the successor to Transformers, and that clearly shows in the mech design. Although the premise may seem a extremely self-indulgent, (not to mention the recycled footage) it makes up for it in likable characters, good animation, and battles that put shame to the description "epic". Though GaoGaiGar is intended for children, that does not water it down one bit. The show deals with death quite often, and it's not afraid to put the main characters into serious danger. GaoGaiGar's legacy continued in the 8-episode OVA, "GaoGaiGar: FINAL" and another OVA called "GaoGaiGar: Grand Glorious Gathering." Both of which were GREAT sequels to the series, and are just as recommendable. Gurren LagannGurren Lagann is probably one of my favorite anime's of all time. Like GaoGaiGar, Gurren Lagann also bathes in brilliant animation. However, unlike GaoGaiGar, Gurren Lagann tends to take things to a higher level. Indeed, Gurren Lagann is the way to go for over-the-top action. GL also has some of anime's most Iconic characters of all time, as well as some of its best monologues. The show has expanded on to two movies, and now a Manga series that's available in the states. If you want more on the story and characters, read the manga. If you want the special effects, watch the movies, or buy the DVDs. Shin Mazinger Z(Ho, boy! This is a doozie.) Shin Mazinger is one of the best-written anime's in a LONG time. Unlike the other shows listed here, Shin Mazinger doesn't really carry much in terms of animation, but that flaw is surprisingly easy to ignore with the other special effects. The plot focuses on its villains, and really fleshes them out beyond the "evil for the sake of being evil" archetype, while at the same time boiling it down to that very archetype without making it a cop-out. Shin Mazinger has a fair amount of epic scenes as well, in addition to the plot twists. Be wary, though, the show becomes a wild ride near the end of its run, and many that were unprepared for it had their enjoyment suffer. EDIT: I forgot one other series that is EXTREMELY recommendable: Azumanga DaiohThis series is the ultimate highschool show. No teen-angst, no extreme fanservice, little to no cultural confusion, no flat stereotype characters, no teen-idiot scheming. The characters seem and feel so real, you can almost feel yourself being one of them, or at least know someone similar to them. The humor doesn't rely on you seeing 1000 other animes or fanservice, it simply relies on how all the characters bounce off of each other, and it's done better than any other show. Lastly, the music is some of the catchiest around, and will stick in your head like concrete. If you liked the highschool frolic of FMP, give Azumanga Daioh a try.
