For my art project, I'm supposed to do a poster that advertises the school. Here's what I have so far. It's a WIP, so of course I'm gonna add on stuff, like put a few team members in front doing some Power Rangers-esque pose and having the school building in the background. The robot is based on the school mascot, and indian chief. I also decided to add a few other motifs such as the school logo front and center, and football shoulder pads. He was originally wearing a linecloth, but most previous feedback was to get rid of it. (Lots of people wanna see my giant robot nude...) For those of you who are wondering, "LT" stands for "Lane Tech" Any other suggestions?

Well, since none of you decided to help, I finished the project late. Oh well, at least it got finished...

Reminds me of Voltron for some reason.

Reminds me of Voltron for some reason. I'm sure anyone not in the super-robot fandom would get a Voltron feel from a robot with these proportions.

I think it takes after Gundam a little more that Voltron... the body parts and armor plating is more angular and cubical, and it looks like the mech is all one piece rather than several put together, where Voltron was made out of transforming robot animals/vehicals (depending on which one you watched).
It also has an "early" Transformer's feel to it.

I actually base my mecha art on what I consider to be the lovechild of Gundam and Transformers: The Brave/Yuusha series! You see, there was a time when Takara (the dudes that made the original Transformers) were going broke, to the point where they had to cancel a Transformers show and toyline, namely Transformers Zone. To make up for this, they teamed up with Sunrise (who we remember for Gundam) to create a new series and toyline that would last an entire decade to come: The Brave Series, which is my favorite mecha style thus-far. I'm still a big novice when it comes to this style, though.

Never heard of the Brave series, but thanks for surfacing it for people like myself.

The braves also had a sister series called the Eldoran series, from sunrise teaming up with Tomy. (Ironically, Takara and Tomy would fuse together later on.) The main difference is that the eldoran robots were piloted by grade-school kids while Braves were piloted by men or had their own intelligence. Eldoran robots also only had auxiliary mechs that they could combine with, while braves had multiple partners that could work solo.

Oh...
Just so you know, i don't follow mech cartoons that much... the most i know is Gundam (a little), Transformers, Escaflowne (a little), and an obscure 70s anime called Magnus.
Aside from that, the only mech game i really play is Z.O.E.2

Aside from that, the only mech game i really play is Z.O.E.2 This Magnus? Yes, that Magnus. Used to watch a cobbled together english dub a long time ago. I wish they'd just dub the whole series (or at least subtitle it) and present it to the public. I'd watch it, if just for the nostalgic value.
