This reminds me, I need to start watching Flashpoint again.
So, fan-made or official merch?

Official. It's just that you won't be able to buy it in store considering it's Japanese, hence the original name of Daizyujin. Try saying Daizyujin three times fast.

Daizyujin, Daizyujin, Daizyujin... not as hard as I would have expected. Yet I have trouble saying "toy boat" even once. Go figure.
Too bad it's Japan-only, but I guess it makes business sense. As shaky as the U.S. economy still is, the demographic that would buy this thing for the nostalgia factor probably doesn't have enough disposable income to throw around.

True. Lucky for me, I'm still young enough to bug my parents about it. C:<

For the past week, Bluefin Tamashii, the North American Distributer of S.H. Figuarts, Super Robot Chogokins, Soul Of Chogokins, etc., has been hinting at possibly bringing over the Super Robot Chogokin Daizyujin to the states. They have hinted on thir twitter account, their facebook account, and even to people at attendance of A-kon 23, but now, the space witch is out of the dumpster, Daizyujin is coming to America!
Bluefin Tamashii just announced that Super Robot Chogokin Daizyujin will be coming out Oct 2012 for $60.99.

Just got one for X-Mas, and I have to say it is every bit as awesome as it looks...and even a bit terrifying. The problem is the plastic used for most of the joints in the figure. It's very stiff, but I can't make judgement to its durability. Most of the joints are smooth enough, but the shoulder joints give off a very loud and discouraging creak when moved, which might eventually twist and snap the stem that the balljoint is on. I solved the problem by carefully removing the ball and trimming it down by the smallest bit, making sure that the joint isn't TOO loose when reinserted. One other problem is that it can only be found where other Bluefin products are sold, so you'll be hard-pressed to find one in-person before you buy it. Other than that, it's a damn good figure and the best we could hope for in terms of articulated figures of the Megazord that we first fell in love with. Plus, it's in scale with Godzilla 6" vinyl figures, so you can reenact those epic battles that went in your head in your spare time as a kid.
