Unfortunately, you can't view them here at Tremorton. If you want to see my rants and reviews, you're going to have to go to my NEW blog. Why a new blog? Because I don't have the patience to get the passwords back, and refuse to repost on blogs where I came off as immature with my reviews, constantly swearing like a sailor and everything. So I went ahead, got a new blog, and tried to be a bit more professional with the reviews. SO BEHOLD, THE NEW SHELLTOON'S VIEW, NOW WITH 100% IMPROVEMENT!! shelltoon.typepad.com

Ha...
Nice to see someone else with a taste for video games.
Yes, Operation Darkness is not exactly a superb game but apart from the glitches, many of the bad points you named are nitpicks rather than actual bad points. Yes, it's not Metroid Prime... but it isn't Superman 64 either. I'd just say that Operation Darkness is a sub-par, dull game with frustrating, glitchy controls and a cliched story that fails to make use of the setting correctly, focusing on fantasy elements instead that, frankly, end up turning it all into a waste of time.
Now that this is said...
What games will you be reviewing? I take it that you'll be reviewing more next-gen ones than old-school ones, right? I also take it that you'll be reviewing exclusively professional games rather than independant and freeware games, right?
Anyway... apart from nitpicking, the review wasn't too bad. It wasn't too objective (I would have liked to see a proper list of what the game did right and what it did wrong) but it did show a progression of your feelings toward the game.
Here are some recommendations for the next review(s):
-include analysis of each part of the game (graphics, art style, music, music style, if the graphics fits the theme and story, if the music fits, story analysis, how original/developed it is, characters, gameplay mechanics, glitches and stability, the kind of thing)
-include a "quick list" (small list showing what the game did right and what it did wrong overall)
-Do not include number ratings (even if one try to be objective, number ratings don't mean a whole lot. Let the facts speak for themselves)
I'll be waiting for your reply (and your next reviews). Have a nice day!

Once again Shelltoon, you bring a nice unique spin on the idea of the review, which I enjoy every time.

I wasn't expecting OD to be Metroid Prime levels of good, I was expecting it to be decent. Most of the retro reviewing scene is dead. I'll do one from time to time, but otherwise it's mostly next-gen. Any game will fall victim to my opinions. What I said about OD on that recent post wasn't a review, it was my experience. Scroll down further for other reviews. I'm already doing that. I don't do this because I feel people are just going to skip everything I wrote and look to the list. I learned this a while ago and stopped doing it because complex opinions cannot be represented numerically.
