I've been on a Castlevania kick for a while now... Just curious.

Even though i didn't grow up with an NES (though, a friend had it, and i got to play it for a while), yes, i do like Castlevania.

You mean the old ones or the Metroid ripoffs? The old ones were good. They struck a solid balance between platforming and run-n-gun (er, whip). Controls were a bit iffy IIRC, but back then every game's controls were iffy. On the other hand, I haven't played any of the recent ones, so I don't know how they hold up. I do know they have hilarious dialogue. Thank you, Internet.
But enough talk. HAVE AT YOU!

The "hard as diamonds" platformers from the NES, SNES, and PC-Engine, and the "exploration is key" installments that came after "Rondo of Blood" ... although, i'm kinda iffy about the blatent God of War ripoff, "Lords of Shadow" that reboots the series... I mean, i tried the demo, and it was alright, but i prefered "SotN", "LoI" and "Chronicles" much better than "LoS"... Also, annoying shaky cam is shaky... and annoying.

The Metroidvania games are good, but I prefer the more traditional stage-by-stage platforming.
Has anybody here played the X68000 version (released for PS1 as Castlevania Chronicles)? It's one of the more brutally-hard games in the series.

I have no idea how many times i said "mother facker" (replace "a" with "u") after i died... again... and again... and again... >.< It was like playing Ninja Gaiden SIGMA 2, but WAY more unforgiving.
