Honestly, this topic has been discussed so many times, the topic question is almost guarenteed to have a resounding ,
However, I can't help but get nagged at the slightest possibility of official revival. After all, I've seen crappier franchises rise from the ashes and be reborn into something epic, the most recent and obvious of which would of course be My Little Pony. However, there's also the highly underrated Gamera trilogy, which took one of the stupidest and cheesiest of giant monsters and made him able to compete and possibly surpass the mighty King of the Monsters. The original Gundam series (called Gundam 0079) was highly unsuccessful when it first aired, but gained recognition later and soon became the king of mecha anime.
Can you give me an example of a franchise that has seen rebirth?

Looney Toons, the revamped series with Bugs bunny. I enjoy watching the new series honestly!! Until cable was cut off of course DX

Gamera is more for the kaiju fanatic; with special effects and storytelling that far and beyond surpasses most Godzilla films. For example, if you look at Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, the story is extremely inconsistent and refuses to make any goddamn sense. Gamera vs. Legion, however, explains it's monsters and plays around with them instead of outright breaking the rules, and doesn't make the mistake of explaining something you pulled out of your @$$. Even on terms of the only thing you're supposed to care about in Kaiju films, destruction and explosions, Gamera delivers much more than Godzilla, practically nuking an entire city in the process.

Then there's the Fact that G3 takes it a step further and genuinely makes you care about the human story just as much as the Monster battles, even if that story does get muddled by having one subplot too many(what the hell was with the weird cultist guy? I mean, what specifically did they want and or expect to happen when Iris reached full power?). Honestly, whenever someone asks me how I can watch Kaiju movies I give them my copy of Revenge of Iris. People tend to stop asking after that.

People tend to stop asking after that. I'd actually say contrary to a lot of that (though I do agree that the cult guy made me go "WTF" more than once). Lots of kaiju fans who grew up with Gamera (myself included) felt no sympathy for the vengeful herald of Iris, especially after our favorite turtle gets impaled and loses a limb to the big vampire-squid. Still, I unnderstand your viewpoint; the special effects and story of G2 already surpassed Godzilla, and G3 takes both one step further. Even after the culsterf**k madness of Final Wars, I don't think Godzilla has yet caught up.
