OOC: I guess this is a pretty long post. If anyone finds anything wrong with it, just PM me. Been a while since I last RPed...
EDIT: Apologies. I got it edited.

Karl was in the shower when he heard the electrical blast outside of his apartment. He quickly rinsed the shampoo out of his short brown hair and turned off the taps. Within minutes, he was relatively dry, clothed, and was putting on a jacket on his way to the door.
Upon opening it, he was staring face-to-face with two officers.
"Hello, sorry to disturb you... Why are you dressed to leave?" the first officer asked. He wore a typical officer uniform, although more casually than the second one, who stood straight as a board.
"I just got out of the shower." Karl replied.
"Ah. I can see by the damp hair."
"Am I suspected of something?"
"No, we were just questioning around the nearby apartments if they know about the murder case that happened."
"Murder?" Karl asked.
"That's right. We found a body of a boy we have yet to identify."
"Can I see it?"
"You'll need idetifi-" the officer was cut short when Karl flipped open his wallet, showing a badge officially declaring the resident an officer much like the first two. "... Of course, I didn't recognize you, Civilian Corporal."
"No problem." Karl replied as the two officers allowed him out. Karl locked the apartment door and followed the officers out of the apartment.
Upon leaving, Karl could instantly see a bunch of officers setting up the yellow tape commonly seen for CSI operations. Karl flashed his badge to the officer crouching beside the corpse.
"What have we got?" Karl asked.
"Murder, single victim, unknown number of suspects. Definitely not serial." the constable replied.
"How so?"
"We never had a case like this before."
"Elaborate."
"It's... hard for me to describe. You should take a look yourself."
Karl nodded and did so. The hair was the most obvious feature, spiking straight outward. Karl couldn't see any features that would make the corpse in any way unique, let alone any obvious factors for trying to find any connections to who might have done this. In fact, if not for the fried, sizzling hole through his abdomen and bulging brown eyes, the person could have easily been mistaken for a drunken human taking a nap.
This wasn't the case. Karl stood up and faced the constable again.
"Looks to me like murder, no doubt."
"No kidding?" the constable asked. Karl was not a fan of sarcastic comments, but he never cared for it.
"First degree by the looks of it. This... hole isn't natural. Natural lightning can't make holes like these."
"What do you mean?"
"I live near here, and I was taking a shower when I heard lightning a few minutes ago. Something about the sound didn't seem right. This boy was most likely startled, judging by the bulging eyes."
"Or the shock could have done that."
"The death was most likely instant, so the muscles couldn't have reflexed fast enough to make the eyes bulge. This boy seemed to be shocked to find someone here, and that someone killed the boy."
"What was the motive?"
"The opportunity was here. The kid had no way of taking cover, he was taken by surprise, and I doubt anyone with swords would be out in an open area like this without a reason. The method is obvious... but the motive? I have no clue, constable."
"I guess that's what you're going to get to." the constable said as a CSI photographer arrived to take pictures of the dead subject.
"Yeah... I guess so." Karl said as he walked back to the apartment. He needed breakfast. He never liked doing the volunteer work on an empty stomach.

jason arrives on the scene, sees the amount of police officers, and hides. he peeks at what they were huddled around, and sees the body of a dead boy, with a smoldering hole through his chest.
"oh my god," he says. "who could have done that?"

Champ, perched on a rooftop, stares across at the scene. He can't really make out the body too well. He can tell it's a teenager, decently sized, nothing spectacular. And he can also see the burn tearing a hole right through him. Champ thinks, his blue eyes scanning the scene in a frantic rush. As far as he can see there's no logical cause for an electrical accident, and while there was rain earlier it was light, and there wasn't any lightning. The hunter yawns. He's tired. Traveling has exhausted him. He still needs to finish moving in to his new apartment enough to sleep. He turns, his dark blue overshirt whistling in the wind. This mystery will have to wait for another day.

*Morning* Sunlight streams through the Azure's window. As it touches her eyelids they attempt to resist the call of day. She turns, trying to return to the pitch black of night, but the effort is no good, as sunlight has invaded her room. She climbs out of bed, dressing in a panicked frenzy. Nevermind the fact that school doesn't start for another hour, and it shouldn't take anywhere near that long to walk there. After quickly toasting a poptart she heads out the door, her assorted school supplies packed in a thin black courier bag slung over her shoulder. As she quickly walks towards the school she takes an optimistic view. This is a fresh start for her. She doesn't know anyone here. Making new friends is both an exciting and frightening prospect. She glances the spanning sidewalks, looking at the other students making the trek to school, wondering if any of them would be the least bit interested in speaking to her...

Oatmeal and some tea. Easily made within the time of five minutes, let alone the ten he would allow when he got ready for a case. While munching on the oatmeal, Karl thought about the dead boy in the nearby parking lot, being slipped in a body bag and brought to CSI Headquarters.
The boy himself... He looked young. Definitely younger than Karl, who just got promoted a week ago, and four months earlier, left University with a degree for computerized graphic designing. He currently had no job.
He was a freelancer, but he would need to find a new job within two weeks, otherwise his funding resource would deplete into nothingness. Another week from there and he'd run out of consumable supplies. Another few days from that, starvation. Karl was definitely not going to go down that way.
He kept a 9MM pistol in his house, a typical adornment for a part-time voluntary Civilian officer. He wouldn't trust his life with the thing, especially with the limited ammunition he had, consisting of two clips, but it was good to have in case he was ambushed. He had the pistol loaded, and the safety flipped on. All he needed to do to prevent a mass panic is to keep his badge on his person. Wallet in one pocket and pistol in his other, all he needed was a quick snack.
By then, he was finished with his breakfast and poured the remaining kettle of tea into a thermos. He slung the thermos over his shoulder and pocketed a granola bar. First thing he needed to do was find out who the kid was to begin with. Judging by the looks, and apparent age difference, he could've been a student. The problem was that Karl couldn't decide whether it was a High School student or a University kid.
After exiting the apartment, Karl turned south and moved on toward the High School commonly known as "Tremorton High". Considering the university is vast, Karl decided to make do with the easier choice. After all, he wasn't in a hurry.
If things were as bad as he tried not to think, then he should be in a hurry.

jason arrived at tremorton high at 9:10, which, for him, was prompt, and went to the office.
"hi, im the new student, and i need to get my schedule." he said.
"ok, just wait a second," the lady behind the desk said.
{ooc - question: is this gonna include any of the characters from the show? or is it only originals?}

(It really doesn't matter to me) Azure sat in her first class, English, bored to tears. The teacher was saying something about poetry, but no matter how hard she tried Azure couldn't really bring herself to care. Her eyes scanned the classroom, and stopped on a boy across the table from her. He was hard to miss. On his head he wore a bright orange headband, accompanied by a black overshirt and orange t-shirt. His spiky blonde hair shone in the light that slipped in through the windows. He was an odd one. Just like her. Her attention was drawn from the boy by the girl next to her. "Hi," The girl whispered. "Hi,"Azure said. "I'm Alice," The girl said, smiling. "Azure," She replied. "So, are you as bored by this as I am?" *** Champ noticed the black-haired girl across the table staring at him. He didn't think too much of it. He wasn't exactly the most normal looking person in the class. He couldn't help it though. This was the clothing he felt comfortable in, and the headband kept his hair in place. And it looked cool. He turned to the students next to him, hoping to spark a conversation. He wanted to learn about the boy from the other day. But just as he opened his mouth the intercom crackled to life. "Good Morning TREMORTON!," A girl's voice shouted, "Would everyone please report to the auditorium, I repeat, would everyone please report to the auditorium?" Just great. Champ threw his bookbag over his shoulder. He'd have to get the information he needed later.

jason walked out of the office just in time to hear the announcment. he went to the auditorium, and saw that most of the students were already there. he looked around for anything out of the ordinary, and he found it: headband. he walked over and sat two rows behind the kid with the headband.

Tremorton High School looked exactly like it did when he used to go there several years ago. Dull, gray walls, dull gray floor, dull, dark cyan lockers. Everything about it was dull. Perhaps it was meant to give the impression that school was boring and dull. Education was an important thing, but Karl couldn't help but instantly feel the aura of dullness throughout the school. Before he could go to the principal's office and request permission to investigate freely throughout the school, the intercom flickered on.
"Good Morning TREMORTON!," A girl's voice shouted, "Would everyone please report to the auditorium, I repeat, would everyone please report to the auditorium?"
Before Karl could absorb the announcement, all of the doors swung open and teenagers poured out of the school. Karl had to swim through the sea of kids as a result. He suddenly felt thankful that he shaved earlier in the morning, as he looked exactly like a teenage student, except he was 6'3 and wore an overcoat. Almost as if he just arrived, which he did.
He noted a gray-haired man in beige suspenders. Karl recognized the man instantly as the Vice-Principal from when he went to school.
He moved through the crowd and got close enough for the man to hear.
"Good morning, Vice-Principal."
He turned to see the face of one of his old students.
"Ah. pleasure to see you." he said with slight contempt.
"Same here," Karl replied, not seeming to notice or care. "Listen, I'm trying to investigate something that happened last night. Think we can talk in private? I don't want to cause discomfort amongst the students."
"Sure." the short man replied. Karl followed him into a corridor that was recently emptied. They walked through a door and they found themselves backstage from the auditorium.
"Now what is it?" Rizinski asked. Karl knew that the Vice-Principal didn't exactly like him, but he knew that Karl was a functional member of society, and he as usually dead-serious about everything.
"You heard about the death of the boy last night, right?"
"Not really."
"It was a teenaged boy. Brown eyes. Killed by lightning. Most likely instant death. All I need to find are motives for the murderer. But first, I need to know who the boy was. I suspected him to be within the age group of High School or early years of University."
Just then, a teacher came along and interrupted.
"Vice-Principal, you're up."
Karl was slightly offended. He wanted to make his visit short, but now it's going to be delayed.
As Rizinski left toward the stage, he said "Do what you will." Karl nodded. Despite the fact that he wanted to get to investigation, his curiosity couldn't be helped. He decided to sit in the green room. The door was left open, so he could hear clearly what was going to be said.

Radzinski(OOC-That's the usual spelling) stared out at the crowd, uncertain. The school was expecting him to give some big first day pep-talk. But when he opened his mouth the words came of their own accord. "Students, I've just been informed that a teenager was killed last night," He said, "I don't know the details, but the police are investigating, and I would like your full cooperation." The crowd stirred in shock. Questions flew through the air. "Who!?" "Why!?" "Why didn't we see this on the news!?"

Karl flinched when the speech was given. Either the Vice-Principal actually did know, and lied to Karl, or his mood was instantly dropped from the news.
The latter was more likely. All Karl could do was sit and listen on. He didn't want to draw attention to himself by going onto the stage.

Champ smiled a little. It was really lucky that fate had twisted the situation this way. He was finally going to learn some details. Hopefully. As the chatter in the auditorium died down the attention turned back to the stage. "Er, uh, return to class," Radzinski muttered.

"That was very quick," Karl muttered as Radzinski came into the greenroom again, aided by a random teacher whom Karl didn't know.
"What can I say? You killed the mood."
"Not exactly my fault. You of all people should know that I'm in this line of work called "Crime Investigation", although voluntary."
"I'm sorry though, I have no information regarding the student, yet. In fact, you're better off asking the students themselves. You blend right in when you shave."
Karl took that comment as a compliment. The only thing that set him apart from the average student was his height. Then again, a number of students looked to be his size anyway.
Radzinski and the teacher left toward the office again, leaving Karl to do as he wills. So long as Karl didn't get into trouble, he had nothing to worry about.
Now to get working on this case...
