Champ couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following him, but it didn't matter. He slid into history and found a seat. The class was buzzing about the assembly of course. "Now class,"Mumbled the teacher, a man in his thirties whose hair sagged like his eyes, giving the impression of a very tired man, "Settle down, I know that was a surprising announcement, but we need to proceed with out regular school day."

Soon, the hallways were empty. Karl made his way toward the General Office. If he was to get information regarding the identity of the dead kid, there would be the place. He showed his badge to the Secretary, who seemed to still be shaken from the sudden announcement. Obviously nothing like this ever happened before.
The way the kid remained, it was unnatural from the start.
The secretary led Karl to a room filled with paper-laden cupboards and a computer from the opposite end of the door. He knew he had a lot of work to do. Karl immediately got onto the computer and started to look through the entire list of students attending the school.
Along the way, he spotted the picture a kid who wore a headband. Of all the fads, Karl thought. It was definitely different, but Karl never found the reason as to why they existed in the first place. The kid stood out mainly because of the headband, something no one else wore.
Karl continued clicking the "Next" button, trying to find the familiar face of the dead subject.

{ooc to jakob- couldnt he just look at the list of students who are absent today?}
jason looked at his scheduale and saw that his class was the same as the one the headband kid walked into. 'lucky me' he thought. he walked in.
"hi, im new here," he said to the teacher. he told him where to sit, and he sat there.

OOC: Champ: Sorry, I personally never found the point. I don't have a problem with them though.
Falkun: The day sort of just started, so attendance couldn't have been recorded by then.

Champ looked around the room. It was what he'd expected. A popular girl chatting with her friends. A lot of people nervously talking about the news under their breath. His eyes paused on a boy with spiky blue hair. "Hey," He said, "You're new, right?" Champ felt like an idiot for asking, of course he was. He'd just said that less than five minutes ago. But he had to start his conversation somehow. *** The popular girl looked over. "Anybody know who the new guys are?" She asks her friends, "They look like total freaks." OOC-Man I messed up, I didn't introduce everyone the way I should have... I have to find a way to pick up the pace...otherwise I'll end up restarting all over again.... I just really screwed this up

OOC: I don't think you screwed up. Although the only thing I could ask you to do is determine if Karl does find the kid in the records or not.

Three hundred and forty-eight clicks. That's how many Karl counted before he stopped. The only thing he could see now was the picture of the oh-so-recognizable boy. A Senior of High School, with a decent record. Unmistakable brown eyes, short brown hair with streaks. Average build. If anything, he would look altogether insignificant if he weren't dead.
Karl grabbed a scrap piece of paper and wrote down everything he could find on the screen, and printed out a picture of the boy. He folded the picture and paper of information, and stuffed them deep into his coat pocket. He nodded his thanks to the secretary as he left the office.
By the time he was off of the block, he had his cell phone out. He was going to call the one who passes information between Karl and the Police Chief. Lieutenant Garner.
"El-Tee."
"Yo K, you got anything for the Chief?" he asked. He had a slightly unidentifiable accent, something that goes off as odd, but easy to get used to.
"Lots of it. Where are you?" Karl replied, looking down at his picket.
"Mezmer's. I see you walking."
Karl looked toward the corner cafe. The Lieutenant was sitting at a table. He was in civvies, most likely undercover patrol. Karl switched off the cellphone and shoved it into another pocket. He then sat down at the table.
"What do you got?" the Lieutenant asked. With a few flicks of a wrist, the folded paper was in front of the Lieutenant. He unfolded it and started to absorb the information.
"High school student?"
"Grade 12. I don't think his parents know that he's dead yet. Definitely going to be a tragedy."
"Well, they need to know."
"I know. Are you going to tell them?"
"Yeah. As for you, you should stay at that school, see if you can find more info. When something comes up, just call."
Karl simply nodded and took back the re-folded paper. It was soon pocketed again, and Lt. Garner walked off. The El-Tee took out a communication device and started talking to who Karl assumed was the Police Chief. He never managed to catch the conversations, so he might as well get back to work.
After buying and devouring a bagel and tea, Karl started walking back toward the school. He might as well get through the case and get back to his paid job.

Lunch rolled around, and Champ found himself so bored he was beginning to wonder if he had narcolepsy, given the number of times he'd fallen asleep in class. As he stood in the lunch line for the slop that passed as food at this school a girl turned to him, smiling. "Hi," She said. "Him" Champ replied, confused as to why this girl was suddenly talking to him. "I've seen you in a few of my classes, you don't talk much do you?" She asked. "I wouldn't say that," Champ said. "Are you new?" She asked. Champ nodded. The girl smiled, holding out her hand. "Well, I'm Azure Skye," She said, "Come on, we can be new together." Champ chuckled. It looked like there was a bright spot in his first day. But he couldn't let that distract him, he still had to find information on the murder from last night.

Lunch, the time of the day where the entire school is silent save for two places: The cafeteria, and outdoors.
Outdoors was too unpredictable, and he wasn't about to go back outside again. He walked toward the cafeteria, passing by the Vice-Principal as he did.
"Hello," Karl said.
"Any luck?" Radzinski asked.
"Quite." Karl said, showing him the folded paper. "I already passed this information to the real authorities, so they'll get on it."
"You know, there's a word for people like you."
"I'm sorry?"
"You're a vigilante, although not the traditional kind shown in movies or books."
"I think that's a compliment."
"Some don't like those kinds of people. I'm not one of them, but it's true."
Karl paused to think over the information. He then turned and continued walking, waving as he did.
What the heck was that about? Karl grimaced as he pushed open the doors to the cafeteria.
He took one long glance at the entire place. Many faces he recognized from the investigation in the school files. Of all of them, he recognized the boy in the headband, as he spent the most time on him apart from the victim.
Karl shook his head and walked to a relatively empty table. He sat down and started listening in on random conversations that may pop up.
All there was now were conversations about make-up, disbelief about the incident from the morning greeting, otherwise teenager stuff that doesn't concern Karl and never will.

After finally getting the sludge that passed for food here Champ looked for a table. He spotted Karl, and while he wasn't intending to sit with him, he couldn't help but speak his thoughts as he walked past. "Aren't you a bit tall for a high schooler?" He said.
