"Hm......never thought it was all that complicated." Alex commented, watching the procedure. "I just assumed the soul went with the mind.....or is that a specific design on the part of Cluster Robots?"

"The soul and the mind are the same thing." Eric answered.
He paused, and walked out of the operating room (which actually was a nearby console jerryriged into one).
"Okay...her nural circutry has been repaired, along with the back infrastructure. Now all the proceedure needs is a large amount of electrical energy. XJ ni-yun....."
Jenny sighed. "Ok mom."
The teenage robot transformed into an electrical generator and gave Vega a large jolt of electricity. Arcs of electricity erupted from her empty chest cavity and connected with anything metal in the room.
A few seconds later a bright flash of blue light momentairly blinded eveyone in the room. As Eric rubbed his eyes to clear the dots from his vision, he looked at Vega and gasped in amazement.
In her chest cavity there pulsed a light-blue sphere of energy. The sphere was transparent with a cluster (no pun intended) of smaller non-transparent energy spheres weaving and twisting around inside of it.
Vega's lifespark, her soul, her mind, beat like a heart. Her chest automatically closed, her breastplate covering it almost immedately. The Queen of Cluster Prime drew a 'breath', and turned her head towards Eric.
"I love you." Vega said, smiling.
Eric smiled back and kissed his wife. "Love you too, honey."

( omnios: You guys are still in Smytus' ship, remember.) Back outside, Gene had been whittling away at the forces trying to protect Smytus -- or to avenge him, once the message had gone out that their general had fallen. He saw Jakob and Eric leave, and he wondered why everyone else was still on the ship. Then he saw Eric go back inside, and his confusion grew exponentially. Nonetheless, Gene continued to fight the remaining troops, in order to defend Jenny and her friends while they did... whatever they were doing. At last, after what felt like an eternity (but was really only a couple hours, according to his cell phone's clock), Gene emerged victorious. He looked out at the hundreds of tattered mechanical corpses around him. "Let it not be said..." he said, panting heavily, "that Gene Wright... is not... a man of his word. I told you... I told you guys. You... shall not... pass." He wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Phew. That's gotta be at least two or three levels' worth of XP right here." He looked back at the ship. "Maybe now I can find out what the heck is taking them so long."
