Hey there Ladies and Gents, as I said in the "Very Important New Year" thread, one of my biggest goals for 2013 was to reboot Cartoon Heroes, and that's exactly what I intend to do at this point. Cartoon Heroes is, for the record, my favorite RP project on this site, and is one of the projects that is most important to me, so bringing it back is a really big deal for me. Since it's been a while since we've had a CH RP, and since there's a lot of stuff changing with this iteration of the series, here's a quick FAQ to help everyone get prepared for Heroes' return.
What is Cartoon Heroes?
Cartoon Heroes is an RP series set roughly fifteen years after current continuity that follows the students of the Wakeman Academy, a school for metas and potential heroes founded by Dr.Wakeman in an effort to help them learn to use their special abilities to help others.
What's Different About Cartoon Heroes Compared to Normal Tremorton RPs?
Besides the different time period Cartoon Heroes features characters from a variety of other cartoons(hence the title) which opens up the world and gives us a whole number of new potential storylines. Also, Heroes tends to follow a more linear structure than our normal RPs, with each story/episode leading directly into the next. I wasn't able to get around to it in the last iteration, but one of my main ideas for CH was introducing Comic Book style story arcs that we'd play out over multiple RPs.
Can I use My Default OC in Cartoon Heroes RPs?
Yes....but I'll warn you now that you might not have a good time. Here's the thing, since Heroes was originally started to allow people to escape from being tied to the characters and settings that we normally use, and because it's set in the future, it carries one rule:Your default OC(the person you play in normal Tremorton RPs) can only appear as a teacher/staff member of the academy, which often means taking a backseat to the younger characters. It's worth noting that a lot of the staff interaction can be entertaining(if you don't believe me go see all of Hunter's posts as Gene during the last version of CH), but in general the story is focused on the students.
Can My Student OC Be Related to My Main OC?
Yes, in fact if you have plans for your OC to have kids this is a great place to play them. For example, my main OC in Heroes is Ayame, Champ's daughter.
But Does My Student OC Have To Be Related to a Previous OC?
Nope, if you want to make a totally new OC that works too.
Can My OC Be From Another Fandom?
Yes, absolutely.
I Have A Cool Idea For An Episode, Can I Go Ahead and Make It?
Okay, here's where my love for this project might rub some of you the wrong way, but the short answer to this question is yes...if you have permission. Simply put, given the nature of the storytelling in CH I'd like a heads up before people just go and make episodes, as they can mess with the flow of the potential arcs we'll be creating. That said, I really want you guys to be able to contribute your own stories to the universe, so as long as you shoot me a message we should be able to work out some way to fit your episode idea in, just maybe not right away.
Why Are You Rebooting The Series?
This is a tough question, and the short answer is because I wouldn't be able to do some of the things I want with the series in it's current state. There are characters I want to introduce who would feel out of place if they were suddenly introduced in the series as it stands now, and there are stories I want to tell that would be difficult to manage in the current version of the universe. I also wanted to fix some things, like, say, taking a certain character with a convoluted backstory and replacing them with one with a much more streamlined one. More than that though, I kind of just realized that there were a lot of new faces on the site, and rather than having them all try to cram in their introductions to a revamped third episode of the series it'd be easier to restart and give the whole concept a fresh start. Hopefully now that we've got a blank canvas to work with we'll be able to turn it into something beautiful. See you in the storylines.
