I am trying to figure out what can make a story fall or what part people have difficulties. What make it that actually using those parts and not using plot armor or an ass pull in order to make your story work? What part do you have problems understanding is it the history, physiques, suspension of belief.

Sci-Fi is easily the most vulnerable to question if you do your research. For example, any "super-sonic" mode of a jet in sci-fi has laughable aerodynamics, as forward-pointing wings generate more lift and thrust than level or swept-back wings, and the closed-wing design seen in Stealth and Macross Plus would only generate lift at a very, very LOW speed.
How does Sci-Fi get away with this? Suspension of disbelief. People are willing to believe these things because they don't directly clash with the characters. People are getting more and more educated now, though, so this rule is slowly applying less and less.

Not listed, but character dynamics. I can't stand it when characters act in ways that don't really make any sense, or when other characters don't react to them realistically. I can forgive a lot of bullcrap in a story if you keep me engaged by your characters, but if everyone in your story either doesn't react to things realistically or cannot let go of the idiot ball then I'm going to have trouble buying into everything else.

Champ what excuse did they use? As it would be easy contrive it to lazy writing which most likely it would be but if the writer put effort and is clever they could make reason for it. I find it terrible to ignore it as that would slowly show the strings and make any message from the media flawed. It can also show the culture is flawed. As for how Sci-fi gets away with it. First you should look at the year, and then you look at who produce it. Looking at Macross Plus, so it is the power of the 80s lazy writing. Expect escapism beats logic, even if the morals hypocritical. We are still dissecting thru these years and laughing about it. It also has translation edits so expect exaggerations.

That too. Much media is a product of the times, and sci-fi is rarely an exception. That factor often makes people more forgiving of older media, giving suspension of disbelief a boost.

I have been thinking about character dynamics. it made me think concepts of morals or i think the word i am looking for is attributes. I was going to do a topic which thing people mistake most when telling a story. The topics I would chose are: courage, love, nobility, will, honesty, sacrifice.
