Hey guys, I wanted to tell you about a neat trip I went out to today. Today I went into this old abandoned building with my friends today. My friend told me about it and I thought that this weekend would be an opportune time to go do some "Urban Exploration" of the place. I went with him, just so that we'd be safer (I wouldn't want to fall through some loose floorboards and have no one to call for help).
I figure this would be a really out of the ordinary thing I did today to share with you all here.
It was really awesome, and I didn't find it scary (I'm not easily scared by that stuff). In fact, my friend though I was very brave going into a place like this. I didn't know what I would find, but I really wanted to see the inside for myself.
I took some pictures too, and I wanted to share them all with you guys in this topic.
Here's the outside of the building. Unfortunately, the door was locked. However, we found a missing window large enough for us to fit through near the bottom, and we got in through there. It's also the way we got out. The sign outside the building said it was closed down due to asbestos insulation hazards. Although I've learned that Asbestos isn't really THAT dangerous.
This is the first hall we went inside. You can really see the place has been in a state of disrepair for quite a while. It was so cool, almost like something you'd see in one of those haunted house horror movies, or those post-apocalyptic movies when they are inside a building. I didn't see much Asbestos in there, except in a few places where it had fallen on the ground.
Another area that was near the windows.
Deeper inside the building. It was very dark, but we brought flashlights.
A room we took a look inside of. A rat literally scurried across the floor in there too.
A device my friend found and wanted to take pictures of. I think it was an old radiator or something, totally not in working condition though.
One of the strangest, but most interesting rooms I found in there. It was sort of in an "out of the way" area. As you can see, there was a large painting on the wall, and this lantern (or what looked like one), still hanging from a string from the ceiling. It almost looked like something I'd see in a Japanese house of some sort, though I don't know what this sort of thing would be doing in a building like this. Nevertheless, it was a neat find.
This room had to be in the worst condition in the whole building. We didn't go far into there, just because we thought it would probably be dangerous, but it was a neat sight to see in there though.
Another chamber that was really badly damaged and worn, though not as much as that other area.
A sign that we found on one of the walls. Don't know what to make of it though.
A wall we found that has small tags stuck onto it, and holes in places. I guess it must have been for hanging equipment before, but the hooks had fallen out of the wall now.
The last interesting sight we found in there. Some sort of power channeling station or circuit breaker or something, though it's too damaged and mangled for me to tell. We didn't mess with it, in case the wires were still live, but it was pretty cool to see in there.
What do you think of that?
Overall, I say it was a great trip! I rarely get to do awesome and adventurous stuff like that normally, but when I do, it's such a great experience! I hope that I can find another good place to do some Urban Exploration like that in the future.
