"Hardly surprising, actually; considering that robots are very common in general."
Jakob then checked his internal clock quickly, just for the sake of knowing the time.
"So what do you want?"

"Well, to be frank, I'd like to know why you keep showing up wherever I am, and, more specifically, your business here." Alex said, in a more serious tone. "Did your creator send you, or are you here on your own will? Who is your creator, anyway? I merely ask so I know whether to count you as an enemy, or as a civilian."
By that time, some kids had gathered to watch the new robot (who hardly anyone had seen before) confront Jakob. They didn't know what was going on specifically, but they smelled the possibility of a robot fight, which was always fun to watch (assuming you were at a safe distance).
Jenny, Brad, and Sheldon were watching from down the hall, wondering what was going on, and Sheldon worried about the possibility of battle between them. Amanda watched from around a corner.

Amanda paid some attention to the two robots, and had actually been watching them as well. She liked to watch more than she liked to talk. Then, of course, Sheldon came in to view, and Amanda's eyes were glued, stuck there. She gulped and slowly approached her brother, Jenny and Sheldon. "Hi," she squeaked, even though she had basically no reason to be shy. "What's going on?" She glanced over at the huge crowd of kids checking out the two other robots.

Jakob thought for a moment. He really had nothing to do, and he was bored, which was why he was walking along.
"Answers are in order: It is mere coincidence. I am simply bored and ultimately have no business. However in about two hours, KPG's probably going to call for a field systems check. No, he didn't send me. I understand fully when he's serious about remaining unknown. I am not an enemy, nor do I intend to be.

Alex had thought that the robot had malicious intent....but he was wrong. It wasn't right to judge people by what they looked like (yes, it even sounded that cliche is his mind)....this guy was here first, anyway.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you, then. Sorry for the interogation....just needed to be sure. The next time you see me, it'll probably be when the town's under attack. I wish you a pleasant day, Jakob." And at that, he zoomed back into the vent, turning invisible, and reapearing as his human self in the boy's restroom. He wandered into the hall, where the crowd was dispersing. He went up to Brad, and asked him "What happened here?" "That trench-coat robot and the new green robot were talking here, and we thought they were gonna fight. Jenny was just about to break it up."
Amanda took this opportunity to walk slowly away, so she could keep looking at Sheldon from a distance.
As Jakob left, Alex felt a little bit more relaxed about him....though he knew he was a robot that you wouldn't want to be on the bad side of.
-------------------------------------------------------
Alex had somehow convinced Jenny to go to the movies with him, on the condition that Brad would be there with a date of his own. However, that didn't happen, and Brad just talked Alex's ears off the whole way there.
The Theatre was showing the latest horror movie. Brad had insisted on seeing that....but it was really the only worthwhile thing to see.
Of course, about halfway into it, tremors were felt throughout the building. Alex and Jenny both knew that it wasn't an ordinary earthquake. A giant tentacle ripped open the ceiling, and everyone but Brad and Jenny ran (even Alex ran, in the hope of helping fight the thing).
Alex turned to his robot form across the street in an alleyway, and flew toward the thing, this time having his energy sword prepared.
The monster hadn't seen him coming. He was able to slice off two tentacles before it could respond, and it oozed a purplish goo. It grabbed Alex, but Alex sliced his way free. He took out all but two tentacles, then Jenny flew up, grabbed both, and used them as handles to slam it into the ground. A large electrical blast was heard, and the thing shut down.
"So, you didn't faint this time!" said Jenny. "The thing shut me down somehow last time. I don't faint....I don't even know if that's possible for a robot." He responded. "Well, at least you were able to help. Alex ran like everyone else...even Brad stayed behind." "Um....I've gotta go. See ya later, XJ-9." He said. "Wait, I don't even know your name!" She yelled after him. "Just call me 13!" He yelled back.
On his way back, he saw Jakob walking home. The guy seemed depressed. Alex felt sorry for him, but his Dad was expecting him home soon. The movie had ended (or was supposed to have) about 10 minutes before that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His Dad still wasn't home. He found another message on the machine stating that he was getting close to a breakthrough.....it was a Friday, anyway, so Alex stayed up playing online games. Yet even as he sat there, there were strange things happening in Tremorton, things he would never have dreamed of.

Jakob entered the so-called "Abandoned house", where many have confirmed "KPG" lives along with Jakob.
"Jakob, something the matter?"
"Not really."
"I've noticed that you've been looking depressed."
"School kids. Not respectful of other members of their own species. Tempted to break some fingers to teach lesson about politeness."
"That's all? Surely it can't be something else."
Jakob sighed, he knew it was pointless to hide from KPG. "I'm craving action, just like when we were getting away from them."
"I know you do. You just need to have patience."
"I know, "patience is a virtue". We've been here... two years, I believe. Apart from assorted monsters and criminals taken down by the Robot Girl, there never really was anything that I find worth taking down."
"Perhaps we should look through the city files and check police reports regarding gangs?"
"Go with Skyway Patrol itself."
"I'm not sure I can do that without being detected."
"I'm sure you can think of something. After all, it is possible."
"Hm..."
"Need me to pick up some supplies?"
"If you want something, go ahead and get it. I'm fine."
Jakob started to walk up the stairs again. He then stopped and asked "How long have we known each other?"
"I'd say about twenty-four years."
"How about the development of my mind?"
"Mind-wise, you're three years old. You've been activated for twenty-four years, and have the maturity level as such. Twenty-one of which were basically your prototype and development years. You were perfected after the twenty-first year. That's when they started trying to get you."
Jakob nodded.
"Did you honestly not know?"
"I didn't really care up until now."
"You're full of surprises, Jakob."
"Not as much as you, HJ. I'll see you later."
Jakob walked out of the door. KPG started blasting Pink Floyd music as he continued doing whatever it was that he did.
After locking the door, Jakob walked off toward the motor shop.
----- (edit)
Jakob had a can of motor oil in his hand. The other hand dug into its respective pocket within the trench coat.
It was a relatively peaceful day. A single round wasted on that Robot Octopus, meeting that 13 fellow, getting familiarized with more people than usual. He wondered just what would happen if they start pushing their curiosity towards "KPG".
He wouldn't want to have to unnecessarily kill someone to withhold the secrecy Jakob swore to help keep. Especially KPG; what with his past experiences and the resulting extreme paranoia. It's a wonder how the government didn't even strike Jakob's lifestyle a little odd.
Maybe they gave up? Fat chance, thought Jakob as he took a swig of the motor oil. He thought about hitting the mall, get himself a new trench coat. This ankle-length one, though worked to keep himself hidden, was rather annoying. Besides, he had trousers on anyway, so the length was not that useful to begin with.
He pulled his hand out of his pocket, producing a cellphone. After a quick flip and click, he held the phone near his ear.
"Jakob?" the voice on the other end asked.
"KPG," Jakob muttered in response "Can I get myself a new trench coat?"
"Do you have the money for it?" KPG asked.
Jakob looted through his pockets, fruitlessly. "Do you?"
"Haven't gotten paid for this one job... yet. If you want one now, you'd have to make the profit yourself."
"I'll think of something. This length annoys me."
"Boo hoo for you." KPG said sarcastically.
"I appreciate it." Jakob laughed. "See you later."
The cellphone was turned off and pocketed again. Jakob continued walking toward the mall, thinking of some temporary job that could earn him a more functional trench coat.

Alex booted up the next morning a little later than normal. Oh well....it was normal to sleep in on a saturday, and he needed the charge.
He was getting nowhere with Jenny, on either front (robot OR human), and he surmised that he might be doing worse than any of Sheldon's attempts. He respected Sheldon, but knew he wasn't going to get anywhere relationship-wise anytime soon.
It was a free day, and he had no plans.....it was a good time for flying, and maybe he'd be able to stop a robbery or something.
----------------------------------------------------------
He passed over the city several times, but to no avail. He found no cries for help, no alarms, and no car-chases. Seeing his efforts were fruitless, he flew to the mall. He decided to stay a robot, to get acquainted to the town's citizens, so they knew they could trust him.
He casually strolled along. Some people said hi, as if his existence was no big deal. Some kids gathered around, asking questions. It was nice to get an ego-boost like that.
He spotted Jakob, who appeared to be contemplating going into the Cutlery Shop, but then decided against it. He did the same thing with many others, as if deciding what he wanted.
Then Alex looked around, and noticed the mall was empty except for Jakob, himself, and a completely black, glowing robot, with two black swords, boosters on his back, and he appeared to be smiling....an evil, vicous smile. The glow was the same as the Robot Octopi that Alex had fought the last two days.....but that didn't concern Alex. He was more concerned with activating his own blade, and preparing to defend himself.
Jakob turned around quite casually, in a way that suggested that it was no big deal to him.

Jakob kept a hand inside his trench coat, grasped around the grip of his revolver. His other hand was in his pocket, producing what looked like a standard lighter. He gave the impression that he didn't seem hostile, and was more looking forward to lighting something like a cigarette.
However, it was then that Jakob realized that he neither smoked, nor could he smoke, so his gesture was more conspicuous than he liked. He pocketed the lighter and pulled the revolver from his trench coat.
"A new arrival, armed with very obvious blades, and an obvious, evil smile. I request to know what your business here is; looking so... "intimidating" as you do."

"I would destroy all those that protect the worthless beings known as humans. It will then be much easier to eradicate them, sparing only those who truly regret their existence, and enlisting them to our service as hybrids. My master is very displeased at the destruction of his recent creations, and, because of their failure, he has sent me to finish off the green one. However, your intentions, good sir, are as of yet unknown to me, and therefore, your involvement here is a coincidence. You may go...but if you interfere in our affairs, then you shall share his fate."
Alex scolded himself for not interrupting the monologue sooner. He lunged with his sword, but the robot just used both of his to block it. Alex just stayed locked there, using most of his strength in an attempt to break the newcomers stance.

"Annihilation of humans?" Jakob asked. "My closest friend is a human, and despite my dislike of humans in general, save for "KPG", I will never hate. To hate means you don't like and are willing to bring harm to them."
With a flick, Jakob's revolver was out, and he took a shot, aimed straight at the now-deemed-enemy's head.

The robot disengaged itself from the block, but rather than strike, Alex (13) used the handle of his sword to lock him in place....and the bullet collided with it's forehead. It looked dazed, then fell over....it's logic core was gone, and it's body received no instructions....it just sat there.
"Thanks, Jakob.....I owe you." he told him.

"Well, be that as it may, he was better armed than I was, and if you weren't around, I don't know what the outcome would have been....he might have accomplished his objective. I'm sorry I was suspicious of you before....it wasn't anything personal. I guess I'll see you later."
And at that, Jakob went back to whatever it was he was doing, and Alex went off to browse at the electronics shop.....he had just gotten the idea of integrating a music player into his head, controlled by thought......
Before he could, a skyway patrol cruiser zoomed overhead, in the direction of his neighborhood. Looking puzzled, Jakob headed for the door. Alex left by the side exit, and flew up to greet the ship....
He was shot at, however, as they identified him as hostile.
Retreating to the ground, he saw that they were, in fact, intending to land on his street.

Jakob kept in the cover of a crumbling cement fence that once circled the property of KPG's abode.
He saw the 13 fellow come under fire from the cruiser. Most likely a jump-to-conclusion Captain working the ship.
Just what the heck are they doing here?

The ship landed, and out came something that definitely was NOT a Skyway Patrol officer. It appeared to be another one of the Dark robots...but he appeared much more serious, better armed, and had thicker armor, as well as what appeared to be an energy shield surrounding him.
Alex hadn't been seen yet, but the robot was approaching Jakob's house....
He took note, before doing anything, that there were, in fact, several Skyway Patrol officers manning the ship....what this meant, Alex could only guess. Jakob was at the end of the street, approaching the ship quite quickly. Alex went full-power and rushed the new robot.........
