Of course, while he was not affected, his energy-based weapons would be vulnerable, if protected well enough to get a few slashes in.
He slipped down slightly while his hands were reconstructing in order to get a better grip on the entity. During that time, the thing’s hand turned to aim at Jakob. Jakob managed to grip at the dislocated material on the shoulder and hoisted himself over said shoulder to dodge the smog blast.
The built-in energy-based weaponry Jakob had in the void were out of the question. The holstered pistol, however, was not energy-based. It was, all things considered, a conventional firearm. He grabbed his pistol and planted it at the back of the base of the thing’s neck- directly where the spine would connect to the brain. He squeezed the trigger as many times as time allowed.

"Damn!" Koith muttered, then diving down to that monster. Using his special C4s, he reached on top of that thing, planting them still on the surface before bursting up high again. With Jakob seemed to be firing some kind of secret weapon, Koith needed to buy some time for him if that thing could focus its power. If those conventional firearms were useless, then Koith had something special though it was just a reverse, Azernian lightning cannon though it's needed to be recharged properly, too.
But before firing that thing, he triggered the explosives, leaving massive explosions. That black machine was now partly crippled and it might be the best chance to take before it was over.
"Now!" he shouted.

((Calling shenanigans, C4 uses a remote detonator. You know, an ELECTRONIC DEVICE. All of which immediately break down in the presence of the black fog.))
When Koith activated the detonator, nothing happened. The black robot aimed it's good hand at Koith and fired another high-pressure blast of smog at him. The gasses hit him with the same force as a firehose, steadily seeping in through all seams and orifices on his body and attacking the vulnerable systems within. Koith's right knee joint overloaded, crumbling under his weight.
Meanwhile, Jakob's barrage on the black robot's neck seemed ineffective, denting the armor but not penetrating or cracking it. Suddenly, Val landed beside Jakob, drawing his own pistol and adding to Jakob's handywork.

“Man alive, this thing’s got tough armour, even the super-heated plasma in these shots are barely doing anything,” Jakob muttered as some plates shifted. A magazine unveiled from the void. Jakob slapped the pistol onto the mag for the reload, and was about to continue the barrage when he paused.
“I know exactly what will pierce this thing’s armour,” Jakob holstered the pistol, and his left gauntlet sank into the void beneath the plating. The hand-shaped blob speckled with distant stars was planted against the shoulder plate of the thing. The void would sink through the plating with no effort. When Jakob had a chunk enveloped in the void, he tugged hard. Like an ice cream scoop, the void tore out the entire enveloped section. He swung the void-arm, and the chunk slipped out of the viscous “fluid” to drop to the ground. Now was Val’s opportunity to take advantage of this opening.

"Darn..." Koith moaned, he must step out of this carnage to recharge and repair himself. Fell back to the group, he watched the battle closely during his repair and change the tactics whenever possible. But first, he tossed some HE grenades first to cause some damages.

(( I thought Koith was in front of the thing. The opening is in the thing's back plating. Assuming that's true, he wouldn't have been able to see the void... or even the pistol, for that matter. That's not even considering the fog making things hard to see at a distance.))

Val was just about to unload another clip into the black machine's insides, when an explosion filled the cavity that Jakob made. Val and Jakob was sent flying, landing safely into the embrace of Selly's tentacles. He set them both on the ground and watched as the machine seemed to scream in pain. Moving like it was an organic having a seizure, it rolled and spasmed on the ground, still emitting that shrieking noise.
"It's being affected by it's own fog!" Agai concluded.

"And that's the reason why it had a damn thick armor!" Koith joined. With his status stable now, he reached closer to that black machine but beware that black fog was still deadly for him. Let that fog killing its own host, Koith slowly scanned the details of that beast to find out the components which made these things, both its platings, weapons and even the fog which was one kind of secret weapon though it's being backfired.
"I didn't see that kind of material before!" he had to admit "Completely capable of deflecting the small arms while its weapons densely focused with electromagnetic which can cause short-circuits in our systems. And to make sure that it won't kill itself, that might explain why it had such a strong armor with anti-electromagnetic coating."

“OOOOOOOHHH!!” Jakob whooped as he rose both hands (the left gauntlet resurfaced from the void) up to the vents of the mouthpiece, “GET REKT, SCRUB! IF YOU CAN’T TAKE THE HEAT, DON’T USE YOUR OWN TECH!” Jakob followed that up with some quick foot-shift dancing. He whooped once more and threw up dual peace signs. “MAN it feels good to emote!”
He reached down to pick up the ice cream-scoop slab he had forcefully removed that ultimately left the machine in the sorry state it was in. The sample was enough for him to determine the make of it back at home. “Looks to be an alloy,” Jakob hypothesized, “No metal is this tough and yet not conducti-“
… Well… no metal in this known universe. Could wanderers have arrived already since KPG’s ascension? It’s been only two days. Jakob tossed the slab up and down in his hand. “It’s a machine with animalistic tendencies- no tactics… I doubt this XJ-9 thing is over.”

The fog quickly began to dissipate once the robot had finally stopped functioning, the sunrise visible on the horizon.
"That's just great..." Val groaned, "Who know how many robots G-Force will lose before this is over..." Val felt something hard jab his torso, causing him to yelp in surprise. He turned around to see Agai, who was presenting his elbow stumps to Val.
"Can I have my arms back, now?"
"Oh, right," Val gave back Agai's robotic prosthetics. "Sorry. How do they feel?"
"It aches a little," Agai said after he reconnected his arms, "But it sure feels a lot better now."
"I would recommend you get a checkup with engineering," Selly suggested, panting from the strain of lifting both Jakob and Val.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Val pulled out a cellphone and called G-Force, "Yo, commander? You're gonna wanna see this."
---
G-Force and Skyway personnel surrounded the site of the fallen black robot, more details revealed in the daylight. Despite it's seemingly high-tech main weapon, the rest of the machine was very primitive. The only thing still unknown about the machine was the makeup of its armor. While chemical studies revealed that the material should be iron, it did not behave like iron. G-Force and Skyway scientists were baffled.
---
Jericho stood at the repair bay of Tremorton's G-Force HQ, looking over the repairs on Super X.
"Has Skyway been able to figure out what the black fog is?" he asked to a technician.
"That's the thing, sir," the technician nervously replied, "It just appears to be water vapor."
"Actual fog?" Jericho scoffed, "Impossible. There must be something we're not seeing..."
--- Two figures stood in a darkened control room, surrounded by masked people working diligently at computer consoles.
"Jakob should not have been immune, sir!" The shorter one said, "He should still be 100% cybernetic at this point, he shouldn't be complete yet!"
"Then we might already be too late." The taller one said, grim sorrow in his voice.
"But sir, you mean everything we've done is for nothing? Will humanity really go extinct?"
"I can't give up on humanity yet, child," the taller figure's voice grew with conviction. "I will keep fighting to the last man. If we want the slightest hope for success, we will have to accelerate our timetable."

Jakob remained on the scene as extra security until G-Force and Skyway set up a perimeter. While Skyway did have weapons built by KPG from old contracting jobs, their immunity to the black fog malfunctioning field only accentuated how ultimately ineffective the rounds were at puncturing the armour. G-Force, however, relied heavily on electronics and robotics, so they would be especially vulnerable to another attack. Really, the only effective weapon was the void encased in Jakob’s armour. Literally pulling whatever got absorbed into… somewhere… Jakob’s real body was in the void somewhere, but the real body was more vulnerable.
The main advantage of this new design was that there was no chance of any kind of mechanical failure… well, besides the non-essential, unhindering suit systems. Speaking of which, Jakob switched the systems back on. The Head-Up Display booted up and began scanning the environment to set up objective markers more efficiently. Jakob opted not to boot up the protective fields. He did, however, contact his Stylus mech- which later blinked onto the scene to provide additional support. The plasma beams on Stylus mechs could slice through star cruisers- and recently proven to deal significant damage to a literal god- they should definitely pierce the armour of some fog-spewing robot… although that much hasn’t been proven yet.
Jakob’s mech began scanning the area for any residue the robot would have left in its wake- try to find a trail leading back to where it came from. The mech’s scanners were far more powerful than Jakob’s suits, so if there was a possible trail- however miniscule- the mech should be able to find it.

The scanning results were strange, at the very least. Water vapor was detected, but it behaved very strangely. For one, it would not condense onto any surface, no droplets would form anywhere. Secondly, infrared revealed that it emitted a small amount of heat. Finally, sensors started to malfunction when some of the vapor touched the mech.

Koith stayed at the scene long enough for him to record any researches he accidentally ignored while himself continuing the scan. This kind of black machine concentrated an extraordinary amount of electromagnetic which found in the vapor which got some devices malfunctioning when having contacted with it. He wrote down to his note.
"Subject covered with thick armor, invulnerable to small arms and conventional warfare weapons though the internal components seems primitive; Its weapons contained highly hazardous materials to robots and other electronic devices in form of water-related substances such as fogs and vapors. Sending some samples back to Neo Berlin and request for a research ASAP. Be advised, the samples may still be hazardous."
Then Koith carefully picked a few pieces of that black robot into an extreme quarantine container and sent it back to Neo Berlin via his material teleporter.

More scans revealed a lingering heat trail leading into the sea. Jakob suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder. It was one of G-Force's meta soldiers, recognizable from her translucent Nuclear-Star armor.
"Excuse me, but can you come with me?" she asked, "We just want you to answer some questions."
Val stepped beside her.
"Don't worry man," he said, "I got your back."
